Responsibilities:
The Flight Attendant will provide exceptional in-flight service, ensuring passenger comfort and safety throughout the journey. Specific duties include:
- Delivering consistent, high-quality in-flight service, encompassing hot and cold food and beverage service, and sales of onboard products.
- Managing diverse passenger interactions, both on and off the aircraft, with professionalism and efficiency.
- Maintaining a proactive approach to safety and security, responding effectively to emergencies and non-emergency situations.
- Functioning independently and collaboratively as part of a cohesive flight crew.
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and performance standards, maintaining punctual attendance.
- Adapting to variable work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Adapting to the demands of a global flight attendant lifestyle, including working in various climates and locations.
Training and Relocation:
Successful candidates must participate in approximately six and a half weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. Upon successful completion of training, immediate relocation to one of our base locations is required. Base locations include: Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Washington, DC; Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; Philadelphia, PA; and Phoenix, AZ.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum age of 20 years.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Body dimensions must meet safety requirements for aircraft operation (e.g., ability to utilize jump seats, navigate cabin aisles, and operate emergency exits).
- Successful completion of a DOT pre-employment drug test.
- Successful completion of a TSA-mandated fingerprint-based criminal background check.
- Possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport with relevant visas.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States and unrestricted travel eligibility to all American Airlines destinations.
- Willingness to relocate based on operational needs.
- Availability for night shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
- Availability for on-call/reserve duty; reserve duty may extend for an undetermined period.
- Professional presentation in the American Airlines uniform, adhering to company guidelines regarding tattoos and piercings.
- Ability to attend and complete the required six and a half weeks of unpaid training in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas and subsequently relocate to the assigned base.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing.
- Physical capabilities necessary for daily operational tasks (e.g., lifting luggage up to 50 pounds, operating window exits and standard doors, assisting passengers).
- Ability to exert a maximum push/pull force of approximately 50 pounds (overhead compartments) and 60 pounds (beverage/food carts).
- Ability to assist disabled passengers, including transferring them to and from wheelchairs.
- Willingness to endure extensive travel, including consecutive nights away from home, and various climates.
- Adherence to flexible work schedules, encompassing evenings, weekends, and holidays.
