Amentum is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as a Helicopter Pilot (Instructor) at Fort Novosel, Alabama. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the training of future Army helicopter pilots, shaping the next generation of aviation professionals.
Overview:
As a Helicopter Pilot Instructor, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive instruction to student pilots in the UH-72 helicopter. While military aviation experience or prior UH-72 qualification is not required, a strong foundation in aviation principles and a commitment to safety are essential.
Training Environment:
At the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence, you will be part of a dynamic training environment where Amentum instructors guide aspiring pilots through rigorous training programs. You will contribute to a legacy of excellence, having trained over 25,000 student pilots since 1989.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction in aviation theory, flight simulation, and actual flight training.
- Guide undergraduate student pilots through months of rigorous training, preparing them for the challenges of combat aviation.
- Foster a culture of safety, upholding the program's exceptional safety record exceeding 2.3 million hours of flight instruction.
- Lead training sessions in a demanding environment, operating in shifts starting at 5 am and extending past midnight.
- Contribute to the development of leadership skills, recognizing the importance of strong leadership for future pilots operating in combat zones.
Qualifications:
- Possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA Flight Instructor Certificate, with Rotorcraft Category, Helicopter Class, and Instrument Helicopter Ratings on both certificates. Alternatively, be a graduate of a DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
- Achieve a minimum of 1500 hours of flight time as Pilot-in-Command or Second in Command (per FAR 61.51) or as Pilot in Command (PC) or Pilot (PI) (per AR 95-1) in aircraft of any weight or category.
- Certify having a combination of 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
- Possess experience in instructing students in instrument flight training.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 75 hours of night flying experience.
- Accumulate 500 hours of instructor experience.
- Hold a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to commencing training.
- Maintain a weight of 250 pounds or less in flight duty uniform.
- Successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
