Overview:
Instructor Pilots are responsible for training future Army helicopter pilots at the world's largest rotary wing flight school. This challenging and rewarding role involves providing comprehensive instruction in the UH-72 helicopter, leading student pilots through months of rigorous training, and preparing them for the demands of combat.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive flight instruction in the UH-72 helicopter.
- Develop and execute training plans to ensure student pilots achieve proficiency in all aspects of helicopter flight operations.
- Motivate and mentor students, fostering leadership skills and a commitment to safety.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all flight operations.
- Work collaboratively with Army personnel and other Amentum instructors in a multinational training environment.
Qualifications:
- Possess a ICAO equivalent or FAA commercial pilot certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class and instrument helicopter ratings on both certificates, or be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
- Minimum of 1500 hours of flight time, including 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or weather pilot time.
- Must have instructed students in instrument flight training.
- Night Flying: Minimum 75 hours.
- Instructor Time: Minimum 500 hours.
- Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to beginning training.
- Weight limit of 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
- Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
