Key Responsibilities
The Horizon Air Flight Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring passenger comfort and safety. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining full compliance with all aviation safety regulations and procedures.
- Ensuring all safety equipment on the aircraft is in optimal working order before departure.
- Greeting passengers warmly, assisting with seating assignments, and facilitating the secure stowage of carry-on baggage.
- Clearly explaining and demonstrating the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures.
- Preparing and serving meals and beverages, including alcoholic selections, with professionalism.
- Effectively marketing and processing sales for onboard products, such as meals and inflight movies, using a mobile device.
- Calmly and efficiently resolving passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
- Answering passenger questions regarding flight operations and providing destination information.
- Consistently maintaining a positive, approachable, and gracious demeanor with guests and fellow crew members.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support overall flight operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation of skills and experience, including:
- A minimum of two (2) years of customer or community service experience.
- An uncompromising dedication to safety as the top priority.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology for onboard duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and possess or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports will also require appropriate travel documentation and must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
Physical & Operational Requirements
- Body size must not exceed specific aircraft dimensions (e.g., jump seat, harness without modification, cabin aisle, and emergency exits).
- Ability to meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the demanding duties of a Flight Attendant.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and maintain effectiveness under stress.
- Willingness to serve alcohol responsibly.
Training & Relocation
- Ability to attend and complete four (4) weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Willingness to relocate to any of Horizon Air's flight attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
Appearance Standards
Horizon Air maintains professional appearance standards. The tattoo policy for this role is as follows:
- No visible tattoos are permitted on the face, front of the neck, or chest.
- One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is allowed per hand.
- Tattoos in other areas cannot be larger than a credit card or offensive.
- Employees may have one tattoo per arm, leg, foot, back of the neck, or behind each ear.
- Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only permitted if they are not visible when looking directly at the person.
- Tattoos may only be covered with a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch; covering with makeup is not permitted.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a union-represented position with compensation governed by a collective bargaining agreement. The first-year step rate is $20.66 per contract. Total Rewards for Horizon Air employees include:

Application Process
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must complete the following steps:
- An initial self-guided voice interview (no camera required), which takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Please ensure a quiet location for this interview.
- This voice interview step must be completed by February 3 at 7:00 PM (Pacific Time) for the application to be considered.
- As part of the application, an audio assessment will also be required, taking approximately 40 minutes to complete.
Important Regulatory Information
As a government contractor and due to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (49 CFR part 40), all applicants are advised that post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing will be conducted. This testing screens for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines or their metabolites prior to any offer of employment or transfer into a safety-sensitive position. Failure to submit to testing or positive indications of drug use will render the applicant ineligible for employment, and any employment offer will be withdrawn.
Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar are required to obtain and maintain a SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badge from the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.
