This recruitment covers both Alaska Airlines Flight Attendant and Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant positions. Applicants have the option to apply for Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, or both. Please note that base location selection is not available during the application process; applicants must be prepared to accept any offered base location by the selected company.

Role Summary & Key Responsibilities

As a visible representative of Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines, the Flight Attendant prioritizes safety above all else, actively supporting the well-being of fellow crewmembers and passengers. This role involves understanding and anticipating passenger needs, fostering collaboration for team success, and providing genuine, caring service with a positive and approachable demeanor. Initiative and teamwork are crucial in creating an airline environment that passengers love. Building lasting connections by delighting guests at every opportunity, while upholding the brand's integrity, is paramount. This is a union-represented position.
Key Duties Include:
- Safety Ownership: Strictly adhering to all safety regulations, ensuring aircraft safety equipment is functional, and executing emergency procedures as required. Prioritizing personal and crew safety in-flight, at terminals, and during layovers. Effectively managing passenger situations, including emergencies, with composure.
- Ethical Conduct: Understanding and executing company policies and procedures for assigned onboard duties. Empowered to make exceptions to enhance the guest experience when appropriate.
- Compassionate Service: Cultivating an exceptional and inclusive experience for guests and colleagues through empathy and kindness.
- Performance Delivery: Maintaining a focus on safe and on-time performance. Proficiently utilizing mobile devices for duty completion, service flow management, and elite guest recognition.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Representing the brand professionally at all times, both in uniform and on social media.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Required
- Minimum of two years of customer service or community service experience.
- Ability to reach 82 vertical inches without footwear.
- Comfortable participating in emergency training, including wearing a life vest in a swimming pool and being in water during inflight emergencies.
- Proficiency in securing oneself in a jump seat with a harness without a seat belt extension and ability to move swiftly through the cabin during emergencies.
- Adaptability to varying climatic conditions, gravitational loads (turbulence), and cabin pressurization levels. Ability to stand for extended periods (4-17 hours), involving stooping, twisting, and operating cabin equipment.
- Capability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Willingness and ability to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Basic technology skills for navigating mobile device applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays of multiple days, working varied schedules (nights, weekends, holidays).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or registered alien with legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Possession of a current U.S. passport or a non-U.S. passport with necessary legal documentation for unrestricted entry/exit from the U.S., with at least six months of validity remaining at the start of employment. Travel documents must remain valid throughout training and employment.
- Minimum age of 21 years at the time of application.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including drug testing and background checks.
- Current employees must be in good standing and have held their current role for at least one year.
Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List Specific Requirements:
- Ability to complete an FAA-approved, unpaid intensive training program for 8 weeks in Honolulu. (Accommodation details to be specified).
- Must meet Hawaiian Airlines' uniform and appearance standards.
- Willingness to relocate and/or work from any current or future Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant bases, including but not limited to Honolulu, HI, and Los Angeles, CA.
- Successful completion of a tuberculosis (TB) test.
Alaska Airlines Seniority List Specific Requirements:
- Ability to complete an FAA-approved, unpaid intensive training program for 6 weeks in Seattle.
- Must meet Alaska Airlines' uniform and appearance standards.
- Willingness to relocate and/or work from any current or future Alaska Airlines flight attendant bases, including but not limited to Los Angeles, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; San Diego, CA; Anchorage, AK; and San Francisco, CA.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting Rate: USD $0.00/Hr. (Note: This is a placeholder; actual pay is per collective bargaining agreement.)
Salary Details:
- Alaska Airlines Seniority List: First year step rate starts at $32.00 per hour (per contract). Refer to the collective bargaining agreement at alaskahorizoncareers.com/cba-as-afa.
- Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List: First year step rate starts at $28.96 per hour (per contract). Refer to the collective bargaining agreement at Hawaiian CBA.
