Role Summary

The Supervisor Inflight oversees employee engagement and daily operations at Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. This role supports the Flight Attendant (FA) group by ensuring the Service Framework is performed and executed, and by providing FAs with the necessary resources and information for success. This position is responsible for assisting in flight operations by meeting inbound and outbound flights, problem-solving, mitigating delays, and meeting or exceeding performance objectives, including safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. As a people leader, the Supervisor will maintain consistent application of company and contractual policies as they relate to FAs in all domiciles.

Key Duties

  • Supervise and direct the work of all Flight Attendants based and traveling through the hub to ensure safe and efficient operations, regulatory compliance, customer service, performance, and reliability objectives are met.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Alaska and Hawaiian's flight attendants by providing superior customer service, upholding professional standards, and performing their job as defined by company policy and the Flight Attendant Manual (FAM).
  • Ensure frontline employees are supported and recognized by meeting time-sensitive team member expectations.
  • Supervise the execution of and ongoing adherence to new or existing policies and procedures, ensuring Flight Attendants are up-to-date on required training, bulletins, company updates, and necessary tools.
  • Drive engagement initiatives to create a culture based on the Care Framework.
  • Coach and mentor Flight Attendants through effective and ongoing feedback.
  • Sustain Flight Attendant appreciation and recognition initiatives.
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on coaching in the moment and in areas such as attendance, appearance standards, manual compliance, delays, on-the-job injuries, customer complaints, and employee-to-employee conflict.
  • Investigate and report delays and irregular flight activity, proposing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Create a culture of accountability by embodying a "see it, own it, change it" mindset.
  • Influence team culture through positive actions, presence, and reinforcement of desired behaviors.
  • Engage with Flight Attendants at outbound and inbound flights.
  • Take initiative to address problems and implement improvements.
  • Lead and participate in additional project work.
  • Liaise with other departments or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) when specific flight attendant information is requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Must be able to clear the pre-employment DOT testing & background check process.
  • Ability to complete Alaska Airlines’ initial training/IOE, hold FAA flight attendant certificate, and remain qualified through recurrent training.
  • Able to reach 80 vertical inches while wearing shoes and/or standing on your toes.
  • Able to swim 90 feet assisted with a life vest.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
  • Able to demonstrate the physical ability to perform the duties of a flight attendant.
  • Possess and/or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports also will need any appropriate travel documentation.
  • Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of all countries within which Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines operate.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and schedule forms.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and deal with ambiguity, while offering effective solutions in the moment.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead frontline employees in an engaging, positive, and constructive manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player by enthusiastically working towards continuous improvement in the operation.
  • Able to demonstrate the physical ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Ability and willingness to fly as a crew member as needed, including during irregular operations and inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to accept shift work (e.g., weekends, holidays, after hours, on-call, etc.).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • 3 years of Inflight experience.
  • Experience preparing verbal and written investigative reports.
  • Knowledge of aviation industry.
  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.

Salary Range

$70,400 -- $105,600 / year

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements

Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar will be required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority in good standing. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.
