Role Summary
The Supervisor Inflight is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing employee engagement and the daily operational activities within Alaska Airlines' Inflight division. This role involves providing comprehensive support to Flight Attendants (FAs) by ensuring the meticulous performance and execution of the Service Framework and supplying FAs with the necessary resources and information for their success. The Supervisor Inflight actively contributes to operational efficiency by engaging with inbound and outbound flights, expertly problem-solving, mitigating potential delays, and consistently achieving or surpassing performance objectives related to safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. As a dedicated people leader, the Supervisor ensures the consistent application of company and contractual policies as they pertain to Flight Attendants across all domiciles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the work of all Flight Attendants based at and traveling through the hub, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance, customer service standards, and performance and reliability objectives for safe and efficient operations.
- Champion Alaska Airlines' Flight Attendants by delivering superior support, upholding professional standards, and ensuring job performance aligns with company policy and the Flight Attendant Manual (FAM), including timely recognition and support for frontline team members.
- Oversee the execution and ongoing adherence to new and existing policies and procedures, ensuring Flight Attendants are fully informed through required training, bulletins, company updates, and essential tools.
- Drive engagement initiatives to cultivate a positive culture founded on the Care Framework.
- Coach and mentor Flight Attendants through consistent, effective feedback, focusing on in-the-moment guidance and development in areas such as attendance, appearance standards, manual compliance, delay mitigation, on-the-job injuries, customer feedback, and inter-employee conflict resolution.
- Sustain and enhance Flight Attendant appreciation and recognition programs.
- Investigate and report on flight delays and irregular operational activities, proposing effective solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Foster a culture of accountability by promoting proactive problem-solving: "see it, own it, and change it."
- Influence team culture positively through exemplary actions, visible presence, and reinforcement of desired behaviors.
- Engage actively with Flight Attendants during outbound and inbound flight operations.
- Proactively address operational challenges and implement continuous improvements.
- Lead and participate in various project work as assigned.
- Serve as a liaison with other departments or the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) when specific Flight Attendant information is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Inflight operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years at the time of application.
- Three (3) years of direct customer service experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in an airline environment or a leadership role.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree, OR an additional two (2) years of relevant training and/or experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to successfully complete Alaska Airlines’ initial training and Initial Operating Experience (IOE), obtain an FAA Flight Attendant certificate, and maintain qualification through recurrent training.
- Ability to reach 80 vertical inches while wearing shoes and/or standing on toes.
- Ability to swim 90 feet, assisted with a life vest.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Demonstrated ability to meet company grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of a Flight Attendant, including being on feet for extended periods.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current passport with unrestricted access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports must also possess appropriate travel documentation.
- Ability to fly unrestricted in and out of all countries within which Alaska Airlines operates.
- Proven ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, and scheduled formats.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity, offering effective in-the-moment solutions.
- Demonstrated capability to coach, mentor, and lead frontline employees in an engaging, positive, and constructive manner.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player, enthusiastically contributing to continuous operational improvement.
- Willingness and ability to serve as a crew member as needed, including during irregular operations and inclement weather conditions.
- Flexibility and willingness to work shift schedules, including weekends, holidays, after-hours, and on-call assignments.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to successfully clear the pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and background check process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of Inflight experience.
- Experience in preparing verbal and written investigative reports.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the aviation industry.
- A Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.

Salary and Benefits
Salary Range
The annual salary for this position ranges from $78,000 to $105,600. Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including location, relevant experience, skillset, and internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to providing fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits across all operating locations. It is important to note that hiring is typically not at the top of the stated range.
