Role Summary: Supervisor, Inflight Performance

The Supervisor of Inflight Performance is responsible for coaching and guiding Flight Attendants to ensure performance results are maximized, thereby creating, maintaining, and recognizing a high-performance culture within the Inflight division. This leadership position demonstrates a commitment to Flight Attendants by providing supportive measures related to attendance reliability, administering recognition programs, and simplifying essential processes such as passport renewals.

The Supervisor spearheads comprehensive administrative investigations, applying company standards and employment laws to determine the appropriate course of action. This role requires close partnership with Inflight Base Leaders, the Inflight Training Department, Human Resources, Legal, and Labor Relations to ensure consistent policy application and effective resolution of performance matters across all domiciles.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leads internal Flight Attendant investigations by gathering facts, creating detailed investigative plans, interviewing witnesses and subjects, and preparing high-level, critical investigative reports.
  • Conducts prompt, equitable, and impartial administrative investigations into internal and external complaints, applying relevant policies and formulating findings of fact and recommendations for disciplinary disposition.
  • Ensures the consistent application of company and contractual policies related to flight attendant discipline across all domiciles.
  • Administers investigations involving work rule violations in a timely manner, including issues related to attendance and reliability, manual adherence, customer complaints, and crew conflicts.
  • Partners with Inflight Training to provide probationary Flight Attendants with clear expectations, continuous feedback, and performance appraisals to enable professional growth.
  • Consults with Labor Relations, Human Resources, and Legal counsel to provide strategic recommendations and corrective action plans regarding Flight Attendant performance issues.
  • Prepares and participates in grievance and arbitration hearings alongside the Legal and Labor departments.
  • Consults with the Medical Relations team to ensure full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), federal, and state rules governing employee leaves of absence.
  • Documents all case data meticulously to ensure accurate information capture, recording, and availability for thorough analysis.

Required Job-Specific Experience, Education, and Skills

  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Human Resources (Generalist, Employee Relations, etc.), airline operations, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; however, an additional two (2) years of equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to operate with considerable judgment, discretion, and self-discipline, requiring minimal supervision.
  • The incumbent must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be a minimum age of twenty-one (21).
  • Ability and willingness to accept an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% of the time.
  • The ability to become Flight Attendant qualified is mandatory.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the principles, policies, and practices governing internal investigations.
  • Prior experience managing multiple concurrent cases or projects through to timely resolution.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset focused on building effective working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Previous experience within a unionized environment.
  • Inflight experience and/or extensive knowledge of the aviation industry.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening) and strong interpersonal abilities.

Compensation and Total Rewards

The annual salary range for this exempt, full-time position is $78,000 to $105,600 per year, based on multiple factors including location, relevant experience, skillset, and internal equity.

Compliance and Regulatory Note

Employees in this position are required to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge provided by the airport authority.
