Position Summary

The Pilot Crew Scheduler holds a critical operational role within the Flight Operations team, providing essential support to United's pilot workforce. This position is instrumental in meticulously managing pilot schedules, thereby ensuring the on-time departure of flights across United's vast worldwide network. This is a fast-paced and demanding operational role that requires working various shifts within a 24/7/365 environment, including weekends and holidays. Opportunities for overtime may also be available in alignment with departmental policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assigns open flying segments to qualified flight crew members, ensuring strict adherence to FAA Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), the United Pilot Agreement, and established company policies.
  • Conducts comprehensive analysis of pilot staffing levels, time off requests, assignments, and trip trades to optimize crew utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Applies cost-effective scheduling practices while maintaining unwavering compliance with all FAA FARs and the United Pilot Agreement work rules.
  • Assists pilots with monthly schedule management, accurately documenting absences, processing transactions for precise crew pay, meticulously preserving pilot activity records, and verifying data quality (e.g., FAR compliance, flight time, qualification).
  • Maintains expert proficiency in the application of Federal Aviation Regulations, pilot contract rules, and company policies to provide continuous 24/7 support to United Airlines pilots, upholding an exceptional standard of internal customer service.
  • Contributes to the professional development of new schedulers through effective on-the-job training sessions.
  • May undertake additional responsibilities related to crew scheduling operations and planning as assigned or based on evolving operational needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully perform multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Capacity to exercise flexibility and sound judgment, particularly when managing stress in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and adaptability to new computer tools and systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of a required interview process to meet job qualifications.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or related professional experience.
  • Additional consideration will be given to candidates specializing in aviation, transportation and logistics, strategic planning, engineering, or technology disciplines.
  • 1-2 years of relevant crew scheduling or airline experience.
  • 1-2 years of scheduling operations experience and/or experience in a fast-paced environment requiring high-volume customer interaction.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $52,725.00 to $68,632.00 annually. The specific base salary is determined by job-related factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for additional compensation through bonus and/or long-term incentive awards.
