DoorDash Labs seeks a skilled UAS Flight Test Operator I/II to join its robotics and automation team. This role involves hands-on field testing and flight validation of new drone platforms, contributing to the long-term transformation of last-mile logistics. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and flight leads to ensure safe, efficient, and precise flight operations, shaping the future of autonomous aerial systems. This is an onsite position.

  • Execute structured drone test flights in manual and autonomous modes, adjusting flight parameters in real-time.
  • Support daily test readiness through pre- and post-flight checks, battery management, equipment preparation, and on-site logistics.
  • Operate in field environments requiring extended periods of standing, repetitive drone handling, and outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Maintain flexibility and responsiveness to shifting schedules, including early mornings, late afternoons, and variable hours based on test conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to report observations, identify anomalies, and support iterative improvement cycles.
  • Possession of a Part 107 certification.
  • Logged over 100+ flight hours in varied environments.
  • Experience flying in FPV/Acro Mode.
  • Understanding of FAA regulations, operational risk, and best practices for safe and compliant drone flight.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and curiosity for testing new drone technology and solving technical problems in real-time.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail for identifying issues, documenting results, and iterating on improvements.
  • Experience working with PX4, ArduPilot, Auterion, or Herelink-based systems.
  • Previous contribution to drone development, aerospace, or robotic testing programs.
  • Effective collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and leadership.
  • Ability to fly different flight modes to collect data and provide feedback on new drones.
  • Clear communication skills for sharing insights and updates, including writing flight logs, surfacing blockers, and presenting findings.
  • Openness to approximately 20% travel.
Local candidates or those within commuting distance to Bay Point, CA, will be considered. FAA certification will be verified during the interview process using the FAA Airmen Inquiry system. The FAA certificate number will be required for verification purposes.

$28.40—$41.80 USD Actual compensation will be determined by factors including skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized.
