Position Overview: Flight Operations Support

The Flight Operations Support role provides subject matter expert assistance for key projects within Flight Training & Standards and Delta Professional Services (DPS). This position operates on an “as needed” basis, requiring a foundational understanding of FAA Part 121 air carrier operations alongside moderate to expert knowledge in specific focus areas. This role reports to the DPS Manager of Delta Flight Training Operations.

Duty Pilot Responsibilities

Duty Pilots are essential members of the Line Operations department, based at the General Offices or Airport Customer Center (ACC) in Atlanta, GA. This position requires commitment to a 24/7, 365-day operation, with approximately 10–14 shifts per month. Available shifts include Day (0600–1400), Evening (1400–2200), and Night (2200–0600).

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for pilots regarding operational issues.
  • Provide operational support during safety events, MCC-required flights, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate cross-divisionally within the Operations and Customer Center (OCC) and ACC.
  • Facilitate communication between pilots and relevant departments to ensure effective problem resolution.
  • Monitor operational channels to mitigate impacts and ensure smooth daily performance.
  • Analyze flight schedules in coordination with ACS to identify and address operational shifts.
  • Monitor and assist with DOT 3/4 regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate pushback delays to ensure reporting accuracy and identify operational trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a pilot is required.
  • Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years with legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Strong commitment to the safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace a diverse set of people, perspectives, and working styles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid organizational, leadership, and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
  • Familiarity with Flight Operations infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and internal Delta/DPS software.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities within established procedures.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards, honesty, and integrity.
