Position Overview: Flight Attendant at SkyWest Airlines

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers throughout the flight.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Efficiently manage in-flight service, including preparing and serving meals, beverages, and snacks, as well as conducting onboard sales.
  • Greet passengers, assist with luggage stowage, and deliver official onboard announcements.
  • Provide leadership and direction during emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Resolve passenger-related challenges, including medical emergencies and disorderly conduct.
  • Maintain safety compliance by inspecting and operating cabin components, such as fire extinguishers, oxygen bottles, AEDs, and emergency escape slides.
  • Adhere to established operational procedures and performance standards independently.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport book (valid for at least 12 months from the application date) and necessary visas for travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills for safety reporting and passenger interaction.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) for operational and training tasks.
  • Availability to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work independently.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Willingness to relocate to an assigned crew domicile following successful completion of SkyWest InFlight Training (Domiciles include: Atlanta, GA; Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ).

Physical and Appearance Standards

  • Height must be between 5'0" and 6'0" (without shoes) to ensure safe operation of aircraft emergency exits and jump seats.
  • Physical ability to perform frequent walking, bending, reaching, and operating doors weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull beverage carts weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Vision corrected to at least 20/40 and hearing within normal 15-17kHz range.
  • Professional, neat appearance; adherence to specific grooming standards regarding hair, tattoos, and piercings is required.
  • Must wear company-issued uniforms and compliant face coverings as mandated.

Compensation and Benefits

Following successful completion of initial training, new hire flight attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours per month. The starting rate is $30.32 per flight hour. Additionally, employees receive $2.25 per diem for every hour on duty away from their home domicile.
