The Role: Exceptional Benefits and Work-Life Balance
SAS is offering a prestigious Captain position based in Copenhagen (CPH) on the high-demand A320 fleet. The role commences with a flexible part-time agreement structured at 83.3% for the first 24 months, promoting an exceptional work-life balance. After this initial two-year period, the Captain will have the option to transition to a 100% full-time contract.
Pilots benefit from 42 days of vacation per year and a commitment to a maximum of 155 working days annually, with no productivity-related days (PR-days) included. While the initial base salary is calculated at 83.3%, Captains can expect workloads approaching 100% during the peak summer months and December, balanced by reduced workloads (50% or 75%) during the remainder of the year. This structure maximizes travel benefits and personal time.

Essential Pilot Requirements (A320 Captain)
Candidates must demonstrate exceptional experience and meet stringent EASA regulatory standards, ensuring all licenses and documentation are valid and current at the time of application.
Minimum Flight Time Requirements
- Total Time: 4,000 hours or more
- Jet or high-speed turboprop aircraft time: 2,000 hours or more
- Pilot in Command (PIC) on the A320: 1,000 hours or more
- Proven experience in challenging Nordic winter operations is highly preferred.
Minimum Licensing and Administrative Requirements
- Unrestricted EASA ATPL (A)
- Acceptance of EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi-Crew Pilot License. Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses must be converted prior to the course start date.
- Valid Medical Class 1 certificate
- Valid Instrument Rating
- ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 5 or 6
- Unrestricted right to live and work within the European Union (EU)
- Clean criminal record
Note: Successful employment at SAS is contingent upon the completion of a mandatory background check, a personal security interview, and comprehensive drug and alcohol testing. These assessments must be conducted in the designated base city of Copenhagen.
SAS Pilot Recruitment Process
The selection process is rigorous, designed to identify candidates who meet SAS's high standards for safety, professionalism, and operational skill. Each stage is disqualifying.
- CV Screening: Review of qualifications, licenses, and relevant flying experience.
- Online Interview: A live interview conducted with a designated SAS recruiter.
- Online Tests: Standardized cognitive and personality assessments.
- Assessment Days: Includes structured group exercises, a formal simulator session, and a personal interview with the Flight Operations team.
- Final Checks: Completion of background screening, mandated personal security interview, and drug & alcohol testing.
Candidates successful in the initial screening stages can expect invitations for assessment during the Fall/Winter of 2025/2026, with anticipated employment start dates in the first half of 2026.
