Recruiting Experienced First Officers: Airbus A320 and Embraer 195

The SAS Legacy and Opportunity

SAS, the leading airline connecting Scandinavia with the world since 1946, is currently seeking highly qualified Experienced First Officers (FO) to join its expanding operations. Candidates will be integrated into the modern Embraer 195 and Airbus A320 fleets, supporting crucial short and medium-haul routes that keep people and businesses moving across the region and beyond.

Current Base Openings for First Officers

Experienced First Officers and Type Rated Pilots are sought for the following Scandinavian hubs:

  • Copenhagen (CPH): Experienced First Officer, Embraer 195; Airbus A320 Type Rated First Officer.
  • Stockholm (ARN): Experienced First Officer, Airbus A320 Type Rated.
  • Oslo (OSL): Experienced First Officer, Embraer 195.
  • Bergen (BGO): Experienced First Officer, Embraer 195.

Minimum Pilot Requirements

All applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements. All licenses must be valid and current at the time of application:

  • Possession of an EASA Airline Transport Pilot Licence (A), Commercial Pilot Licence (A), or Multi-Crew Pilot License*.
  • Valid EASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Completion of an Advanced UPRT course.
  • ICAO English Proficiency Level 5 or 6.
  • Unrestricted right to live and work within the European Union (EU).
  • Clean criminal record verified by an official check.
  • Successful completion of an MCC Course.
  • A minimum of 500 flight hours on CS-25 certified aircraft.

*Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but require conversion before the course commencement.

As a mandatory requirement for employment, candidates must successfully undergo a comprehensive background check, a personal security interview, and complete a drug and alcohol test. The security interview and testing procedures will be conducted in the designated base city.

Starting Salary for First Officers (Gross Monthly Range)

Salaries are presented before tax (Gross) and are dependent on current rating status and total flight hours. Daily allowances are provided in addition to the base salary.

Recruitment Process and Application Guidelines

Candidates selected to proceed will engage in a rigorous, multi-step selection process designed to evaluate qualifications and suitability:

  1. CV Screening: Review of qualifications, licenses, and total flying experience (including PIC and PICUS hours).
  2. Video Interview: Candidates record answers to a series of predefined questions.
  3. Online Interview: A live, virtual interview session conducted with a SAS recruiter.
  4. Online Tests: Completion of mandatory cognitive and personality assessments.
  5. Assessment Day: Includes group exercises, a high-fidelity simulator session, and a final personal interview.
  6. Final Checks: Completion of background screening, personal security interview, and drug & alcohol testing.

Candidates are advised that each step in the recruitment process may be disqualifying.
