Minimum Requirements
- Unrestricted EASA ATPL (A) license
- Valid Medical Class 1 certificate
- Current Instrument Rating
- ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 5 or 6
- Minimum height of 157cm
- Unrestricted right to live and work within the European Union
- Clean criminal record
All licenses and qualifications must be valid and current at the time of application.
Applicants should be aware that employment at SAS mandates a comprehensive background check, a personal security interview, and a drug and alcohol test. These assessments must be conducted in the designated base city.
*Non-Scandinavian EASA licenses are accepted but require conversion prior to course commencement.
Flight Time Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following flight experience criteria:
- 4,000 total flight hours, including a minimum of 250 hours as Pilot In Command (PIC) or PIC Under Supervision (PICUS).
- OR 3,500 total flight hours, including a minimum of 500 hours as PIC on aircraft with a Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) exceeding 16 tonnes.
- OR 3,000 total flight hours, including a minimum of 1,000 hours as PIC on aircraft with an MTOW exceeding 16 tonnes.
SAS Pilot Recruitment Process
The SAS Pilot Recruitment process is meticulously designed to identify top talent and comprises the following stages:
- CV Screening: An initial review of qualifications, licenses, and flying experience.
- Video Interview: Candidates record responses to a pre-defined set of questions.
- Online Interview: A live interview conducted with a SAS recruiter.
- Online Tests: Cognitive and personality assessments.
- Assessment Day: Includes group exercises, a simulator session, and a personal interview.
- Final Checks: Encompasses background screening, a personal security interview, and drug & alcohol testing.
It is important to note that each stage of the recruitment process is disqualifying.
Successful candidates from the initial screening are anticipated to be invited for assessment during Fall/Winter 2025/2026, with employment commencing in late 2025 or the first half of 2026.
