Job Summary
Safran Helicopter Engines is seeking an Instructor to conduct training for customers and/or employees on the installation, operation, troubleshooting, safety, maintenance, and repair of Safran HE engines. This role is instrumental in implementing corporate-approved training programs and ensuring the effective assimilation of field maintenance procedures by trainees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement corporate-approved training programs, including outlines, software presentations, handouts, and tests, and design shop exercises in accordance with corporate guidelines.
- Present helicopter engine gas turbine theory, along with operating systems for oil, air, fuel, control and monitoring, measurement and indicating, electrical, engine installation, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct training on-site and at customer off-site locations as assigned.
- Observe students in taught procedures, such as Maintenance Manual use, accessory removal, and modular maintenance. Provide advice on best practices and question students to ensure assimilation with field maintenance procedures.
- Continuously observe trainees in class/shop settings and answer questions.
- Build and maintain training aids.
- Administer written and practical exams in accordance with corporate, EASA, CASA, and Transport Canada regulations.
- Participate in corporate instructor seminars and training sessions to gather information useful to the training facility and integrate it into the training program.
- Stay updated with engine modifications, publication revisions, and field reporting.
- Be subject to corporate, EASA, CASA, and Transport Canada audits at scheduled intervals.
- Travel is required up to 35%, including internationally.
Scope and Accountabilities
Follows prescribed syllabus to fulfill training session objectives, informing the manager promptly of malfunctioning equipment or student issues. Disclosure of confidential and/or sensitive information could lead to damage to the corporation's reputation and/or competitive posture. Errors may lead to a high risk of safety issues and major liability damage to the organization.
Candidate Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or 5 years of related experience in a relevant aeronautical field, technical, scientific (Gas Turbine), or Armed Forces equivalent.
- Fluent in the English language, both written and verbal communication.
- FAA Powerplant Certificate.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and EASA Part 147.
- Levels 1 and 2 Maintenance certification for Safran HE engines preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
- Knowledge of helicopter and gas turbine theory of operation.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
