Job Overview: Flight Instructor
The Flight Instructor provides industry-leading, learner-centric flight training to Cirrus customers. Operating from the premier Cirrus Services Center in Scottsdale, AZ, the instructor delivers training in iconic Cirrus Aircraft SR and SF model airplanes. This role follows a structured, proprietary syllabus to support the student learning process and ensure the highest standards of aviation education.
The instructor reports to the Flight Operations Supervisor and is responsible for pilot progression, record keeping, safety management, and complex problem-solving. Beyond instruction, the role entails acting as pilot in command for corporate flight operations, including demonstration, repositioning, post-maintenance flights, flight reviews, and proficiency checks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Adhere to all industry and Cirrus safety procedures and policies.

Provide professional, high-quality, and standardized flight and ground instruction.

Conduct training events following program guidance and requirements.

Assess student performance across psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains.

Meticulously document training activities and results in pilot training records.

Recommend students for FAA written and practical tests.

Customize training events to meet individual student needs.

Perform pilot-in-command duties for corporate, ferry, internal, and demonstration missions.

Maintain aircraft readiness, including pre-flight/post-flight inspections, cleaning, fueling, and updating chart subscriptions.

Engage in continuous learning regarding the Cirrus Aircraft line and serve as a model representative of the brand.
Qualifications

Experience:
Minimum of three years of pilot experience; 1,000 dual given hours OR 750 hours in Cirrus aircraft.

Certifications:
Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (Airplane Single Engine, Instrument Airplane), Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land, and a current Second-class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.

Type Rating:
SF50 Type rating required; ATP certificate preferred.

Requirements:
Must meet ATP Single Engine requirements per FAR 61.159 (1,500 total time, 500 XC, 100 Night, 75 Instrument, 250 Airplane PIC) and 150 hours of turbine time (or currently employed as a pilot by Cirrus).

Preferred Skills:
Experience in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, international flight, and night operations.
