Position Summary
The Officer of the Deck Trainer / Shipboard Instructor is responsible for training foreign military students in work center functions and Watch, Quarter, and Station Bill (WQSB) responsibilities. The role focuses on mentoring and team building to prepare students for independent and combined ship operations within highly automated, minimally manned environments. The instructor will facilitate On-the-Job Training (OJT), cross-training, and high-performance team development.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct traditional classroom instruction and provide support for operations and maintenance training.

Execute "train to qualify" and "train to certify" processes, performing dynamic assessments of watch standers during warfare scenarios.

Lead individual and team shipboard and trainer assessments, utilizing advanced knowledge of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) rate-specific work centers and WQSB assignments.

Act as an independent assessor during crew certification events, utilizing virtual reality labs and underway training on Multi-Mission Surface Combatants (MMSCs).

Collaborate with Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop, review, and refine classroom course materials, conducting gap analyses to ensure training effectiveness.
Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship.

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

15 years of experience as a qualified Officer of the Deck (OOD) on an LCS class ship and trainer.

15 years of experience with Navy/Coast Guard ship control, navigation, and bridge watch duties.

10 years of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment (curriculum maintenance, learning objective development, test item preparation, and instructional evaluation).

8 years of experience as an LCS crew member and providing LCS instruction at a Learning Training Facility (LTF).

5 years of relevant experience interfacing with training systems and simulations.

4 years of experience as an Executive Officer.

20 years of experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Compensation
The proposed salary range for this position is $58,500 – $122,800. Final salary is determined by factors including geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant experience, specific skills, and certifications.
