Nursing Faculty Position - West Penn School of Nursing

Overview

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is seeking a dedicated Nursing Faculty member for the West Penn School of Nursing. Located in Bloomfield, this institution provides a 22-month diploma nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). AHN is a 9-hospital system committed to inclusive growth, clinical excellence, and high-quality patient care.

General Summary

The successful candidate will provide classroom and clinical instruction, evaluate student performance, and contribute to faculty organization functions, including recruitment, admissions, and program evaluation to ensure continued accreditation and high educational standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom theory, including the development of course outlines, syllabi, bibliographies, teaching materials, and examinations.
  • Provide clinical instruction and supervision to support student socialization, skill development, and the application of theory to practice.
  • Evaluate student performance in both classroom and clinical settings to support progression and graduation.
  • Participate in Faculty Organization standing committees.
  • Assist in annual systematic evaluation activities to improve program quality.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (must be obtained within 5 years of hire).
  • Current Pennsylvania RN licensure or multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Two years of experience in a clinical area of direct responsibility may be required based on the specialty.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Valid Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance.
  • Valid Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance.
  • Valid Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of teaching experience in a school of nursing.
  • Specialty experience in Med/Surg, ICU/Critical Care, OB/Pediatrics, or Behavioral Health/Psych.
