Position Summary:
Robinson Helicopter Company seeks a skilled Technical Writer to join its dedicated team. This role is instrumental in ensuring the airworthiness and safety of Robinson aircraft by creating, editing, and publishing critical technical documentation for owners, operators, and maintenance personnel globally. The Technical Writer serves as a primary point of technical communication with the company's international customer base.
Responsibilities:
The Technical Writer is responsible for developing and maintaining highly technical content for Robinson Helicopter Company's comprehensive suite of technical publications, including Safety Alerts (SAs), Safety Notices (SNs), Service Letters (SLs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Pilot’s Operating Handbooks (POHs), Maintenance Manuals (MMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), and Kit Instructions (KIs). Key duties include:
- Creating or revising technical publications content based on engineering document releases (blueprints, specifications), vendor data (drawings, STCs), and field recommendations.
- Conducting thorough reviews of technical publications to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and proper integration of legacy design information.
- Collaborating closely with subject matter experts, including Engineers, Technical Support Representatives, and shop technicians, to validate the technical quality and accuracy of documentation.
- Authoring, editing, publishing, and archiving pilot and maintenance documents as required.
- Preparing Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICAs) in compliance with 14 CFR Part 27 Appendix A and FAA Order 8110.54A standards.
- Observing and documenting maintenance procedures to verify the validity and sequencing of written instructions.
- Maintaining detailed records of work, research, and status using Jira project management software.
- Contributing to process and tool improvements to enhance the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of publications activities.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field, or demonstrates exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading capabilities.
- Exhibits a strong background in mechanical principles and systems.
- Proficient in technical software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, Jira, Confluence, Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, TurboCAD, and SolidWorks.
- Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, showcasing strong project management, organizational, and risk management skills.
- Possesses strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Approaches work in a team-oriented manner, maintaining a positive attitude and fostering effective collaboration.
Preferred Experience:
- Holds an FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
- Possesses 3 or more years of technical writing experience specifically within the aviation industry, developing publications such as aircraft maintenance manuals, flight manuals, or similar technical data.
