Overview
Republic Airways is seeking a highly motivated and skilled First Officer to join its dynamic flight operations team. This pivotal role involves supporting the aircraft Captain in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely piloting of aircraft, alongside executing other critical aircraft management duties. The First Officer contributes significantly to the operational excellence and safety culture of the airline.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
The First Officer is expected to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Collaborates with the Captain on comprehensive flight planning, leveraging all applicable weather information and reports in strict adherence to company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Conducts thorough pre-flight inspections to confirm aircraft airworthiness in full compliance with FARs and company standards.
- Assists the Captain in ensuring precise fuel planning and overall flight preparation for safe and compliant operations.
- Operates the aircraft safely, proficiently, and effectively under the Captain's guidance, conforming to FARs and company operational procedures during designated duty periods.
- Maintains expert knowledge of all operated equipment, relevant FARs governing equipment operation, and all applicable manuals, policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Communicates essential flight information, including potential turbulent weather conditions or other operational factors, to crew and passengers.
- Accurately completes the load manifest for each flight.
- Contributes to a reliable and on-time operation by assisting the Captain with adherence to all report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times.
- Facilitates efficient ground operations at the terminal, including ensuring the proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance in accordance with company procedures and practices.
- Presents a professional appearance and strictly adheres to the company uniform dress code.
- Upholds the highest standards of professionalism and conduct at all times while on duty, observing the Rules of Conduct for all associates as outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other related policies and procedures.
- Commits to continuous professional training aimed at upgrading performance and abilities.
- Executes additional duties as assigned by the Company and the Captain.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must meet the minimum requirements for an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) or Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (RATP) certificate.
- Completion of the ATP written examination is preferred.
- Compliance with current FAA and company minimum age and flight hour requirements for both interview and hiring.
Hiring Eligibility (Conditional)
Candidates who meet interview minimums but not immediate hiring minimums may be considered for hire upon successful completion of the interview process if they:
- Attain hiring minimums within six months of the interview date.
- Have no certificate actions, misdemeanors, or felonies recorded since the interview date.
- Accept a class date within six months of the interview date.
Preferred Experience
- Previous customer service experience, ideally within the aviation sector.
Language Proficiency
- Exceptional ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical procedures and governmental regulations, sometimes quickly and under stressful or emergency situations.
- Proficient in effectively presenting information to and responding to inquiries from diverse stakeholders, including management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public.
- Fluent in spoken English, capable of clear and concise communication, including during emergency scenarios requiring shouted verbal commands.
Reasoning & Problem-Solving
- Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and navigate a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Skilled in interpreting diverse and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Maintains composure and demonstrates rapid, effective decision-making and action in all types of critical situations, including, but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and/or crawl.
- Capable of prolonged sitting without standing for long periods of time.
- Strength to lift or move items at different heights weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Meets the visual demands set in the medical standards established by the FAA.
- Possesses clear auditory perception for verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset, amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Required stamina for extended duty periods, sequential workdays, and frequent changes in temperatures, climate, and weather conditions.
- Freedom of movement within the aircraft to perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Ability to comfortably occupy a pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.

- Extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, encompassing nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
