Position Overview: B737-600NG Pilot (Second in Command)

The Second in Command (SIC) serves as a critical flight crew member, assisting the Pilot in Command (PIC) in the safe and efficient operation of B737-600NG aircraft for passenger and cargo transport. The SIC is prepared to assume the duties of the PIC should the need arise and maintains a commitment to rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate aircraft safely for the transport of passengers and cargo.
  • Support the Pilot in Command and assume command responsibilities if the PIC becomes incapacitated.
  • Ensure the security and safety of all crew, passengers, cargo, and the aircraft.
  • Comply with all Air Traffic Control (ATC) directives, federal regulations, and company policies.
  • Execute duties as both Pilot Flying (PF) and Pilot Monitoring (PM).
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight preparations, including reviews of maintenance logs, flight plans, weather reports, NOTAMs, and Pilot Information Files (PIFs).
  • Maintain proficiency in FARs, AIM, FCOM, FCTM, QRH, SPM, and FOM documentation.
  • Perform calculations for aircraft weight, balance, takeoff, and landing data.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Current US DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate (including EKG for candidates over 39).
  • US DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with B737 Type rating (no restrictions).
  • Valid US DOD TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Current US DHS/TSA LAS airport badge.
  • Proof of US citizenship via valid US Passport or Birth Certificate.
  • Current US state-issued Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 1,500 total in-seat flight hours in fixed-wing powered aircraft.
  • Demonstrated compliance with 14 CFR Parts 60, 61, 67, 117, 120, and 121.
  • Must adhere to company training and checking requirements in accordance with 14 CFR Part 121.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role operates primarily within a jet cockpit, a compact environment characterized by noise, varying temperatures, and humidity levels. Pilots may encounter physical and mental stressors, including turbulence, high noise exposure, and in-flight emergency scenarios. The position is primarily sedentary but requires physical agility for cockpit operation, including reaching, bending, and climbing.

Safety and Quality Compliance

The incumbent is expected to foster a proactive safety culture, participate in emergency response training, and adhere to all Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction policies. Strict adherence to operational procedures and continuous improvement of safety and environmental protocols is mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $50.11 (Position subject to a union collective bargaining agreement).
