Southwest Airlines is seeking a skilled and dedicated First Officer to join their Flight Operations team, operating a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft in Dallas, Texas. This role involves safely operating aircraft while delivering exceptional customer service, contributing to the efficient and smooth running of the airline's operations.

As a First Officer at Southwest Airlines, the individual will be an integral part of the Flight Operations team, responsible for the safe operation of Boeing 737 aircraft. The position offers one of the most flexible scheduling policies in the industry, allowing pilots to shape their schedules. This role requires adherence to all regulations, manuals, and directives pertinent to flight operations, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility. The First Officer may also be called upon to perform Captain duties should the Captain become incapacitated during flight.
Responsibilities

Provide friendly service and maintain positive relationships with all customers.

Coordinate closely with the Captain, Flight Attendants, Dispatcher, and Ground Personnel in a highly organized environment.

Comply with all regulations and directives pertaining to flight conduct as directed by the Captain.

Operate aircraft in accordance with Southwest Airlines FAA Approved and FAA Accepted manuals, Operations Specifications, and relevant regulations.

Refrain from operating an aircraft in a careless or reckless manner that could endanger life or property.

Comply with the Company's policies on a Drug-Free Workplace and Alcohol Misuse.

Submit required reports on irregularities or incidents.

Immediately notify the Base Chief Pilot or Assistant Base Chief Pilot of any discrepancies or incidents affecting ability to perform within safety, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility parameters.

Perform as Captain should the Captain become incapacitated during flight.

May perform Passenger Assistance activities such as pushing wheelchairs or assisting passengers with luggage.

Perform other job duties as directed by leadership.
Requirements

U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available).

Must be at least 23 years of age at the time of hire.

Must possess a valid United States Driver's License.

Must have a valid passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States without restriction.

Must meet all regulatory criteria to obtain and maintain a CREW badge designation, requiring successful and continuous enrollment in Rap Back.

Ability to lift and move 40 lbs.

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language.

Ability to bend, stand, and sit for extended periods.

Willingness to grant and share Southwest access to Pilot Records Database (PRD) information.

Maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company standards.

Ability to comply with Company attendance standards and work rules.

Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and travel on a constant basis.
Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Required: USA DOT/FAA Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with "Airplane Multiengine Land" Category and Class Ratings, and "English Proficient" limitation.

Required: USA DOT/FAA First Class Medical Certificate, and any necessary Special Issuance or Statement of Demonstrated Ability.

Required: FCC - Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred: 500 hours in a fixed-wing turbine.

Preferred: Actively flying fixed-wing turbine for the last 3 years.

Preferred: Turbine Pilot In Command (TPIC) time.

Preferred: 121 airline, military, and/or U.S. based flight experience.

Preferred: B-737 type rating.

Preferred: Held or currently holds an aviation-related organizational Leadership position within a flight department of 10+ pilots.

Preferred: Demonstrated history of operational excellence in training and flight experience.
