Position Summary
The First Officer plays a pivotal role in delivering an outstanding air transportation experience, upholding NetJets' impeccable safety record on every flight. As a prominent representative of NetJets, the First Officer provides not only technically precise and secure transportation but also ensures an exceptional service experience for every NetJets Owner and passenger. This role demands versatility, embodying a concierge-level service provider while maintaining the highest standards of professional aviation. The First Officer supports the Captain in command of the aircraft at all times and is expected to consistently uphold a professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures the safe operation of the aircraft during all phases of flight, including taxi, take-off, and landing, adhering strictly to FAA guidelines, Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) Checklists, NetJets Flight Operations Manual (FOM), Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM), and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs).
- Greets Owners and passengers pre-flight, facilitates introductions, and provides comprehensive briefings on the specific flight/trip, verifies itineraries, offers weather updates, conducts safety briefings, and communicates any changes to the itinerary.
- Delivers in-flight service as required, encompassing the professional handling of alcoholic beverages and the service of catering.
- Responsible for the proper loading and secure stowage of all baggage onboard the aircraft.
- Comfortably conducts flights for Owners traveling with pets and those who smoke, ensuring an accommodating and professional environment.
- Supports the Captain as the final authority on the aircraft regarding all operational areas, including full compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory guidance.
- Acts as a vital liaison for Owners and passengers, coordinating seamlessly with NetJets from their arrival at the FBO until their safe departure from the final FBO at their destination.
- Accurately communicates any maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies to the Company via the aircraft Maintenance Control Center (MCC) Controller for their assigned fleet.
- Diligently completes all associated paperwork related to maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which may vary depending on specific operational requirements and assignments.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Certifications and Licenses
- Possession of a written FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- A current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate is mandatory.
- An FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit is required.
- A valid United States passport, enabling international travel without restrictions, is essential.
- A valid State driver's license.
Experience and Flight Time
Candidates must possess an FAA ATP, Restricted ATP, or meet the requirements for an FAA ATP or Restricted ATP (R-ATP) certificate with a multi-engine rating, in accordance with FAR 61.160, including:
- A minimum age of 21 years.
- Total Flight Time: 1,500 hours; or 1,250 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate; or 1,000 hours with military pilot qualification; or 1,000 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate.
- Cross-Country Flight Time: 200 hours (greater than 50 nautical miles).
- Fixed-Wing Pilot-in-Command (PIC) Time: 250 hours.
- Night Flying Time: 100 hours, or 75 hours with at least 45 night takeoffs and landings.
- Instrument Time: 75 hours (actual or simulated in-flight, excluding simulator time).
- Multi-Engine Time: 50 hours fixed-wing.
- Completion of the ATP written examination prior to the start of Indoctrination Training.

Other Essential Requirements
- Authorization to work in the U.S. and travel in and out of the country without restriction.
- Ability to work varying hours, including day and night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Must demonstrate extreme flexibility and the ability to adapt to rapid schedule changes.
- Capable of managing rest effectively to ensure readiness for flight duty at all times during assigned tours.
- Duty periods may extend up to fourteen hours per day for up to eight days, potentially spanning different time zones and extreme weather conditions.
- While on duty, may be away from home for seven or more days and nights, requiring hotel stays.
- Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges. This includes passing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) required background screenings.
- Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
- Possesses a service-oriented mindset with a neat, well-groomed appearance and a proven ability to make a positive impression, alongside strong interaction skills with passengers.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills, especially under pressure.
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions while maintaining close attention to detail, from both a technical and passenger-service perspective.
- Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Comfortable working around animals, including handling and care prior to, during, and after Owner flights.
- Willingness to conduct flights for Owners who smoke.
