Position Summary
The Pilot (First Officer) is entrusted with delivering a superior air transportation experience, upholding NetJets' impeccable safety record on every flight. As the public face of NetJets, the Pilot provides technically accurate and safe transportation while simultaneously ensuring an exceptional service experience for every NetJets Owner and passenger. This role demands versatility, requiring the Pilot to act as a professional aviator and an in-flight service provider, delivering a concierge-level experience. The Pilot maintains full command of the aircraft at all times and is expected to exhibit a consistently professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
The First Officer's duties are comprehensive and multifaceted, ensuring the highest standards of safety and service:
- Ensures the safe operation of the aircraft during all phases of flight—taxi, take-off, and landing—in strict adherence to FAA guidelines, Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) Checklists, the NetJets Flight Operations Manual (FOM), Aircraft Operating Manual (AOM), and Standard Operating Practices (SOPs).
- Greets Owners and passengers pre-flight, facilitates introductions, conducts thorough flight briefings on itinerary, weather updates, and safety procedures, and communicates any necessary changes.
- Delivers attentive in-flight service, which includes the careful handling of alcoholic beverages and the precise service of catering.
- Manages and properly stows all baggage onboard the aircraft.
- Accommodates Owners traveling with pets and those who smoke, ensuring a comfortable experience for all.
- Acts as the final authority on his/her aircraft concerning all operational aspects, including full compliance with applicable safety and regulatory guidance.
- Serves as the primary liaison between Owners/passengers and NetJets, from their arrival at the Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) until their safe departure from the final FBO.
- Accurately communicates any maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies to the company's Maintenance Control Center (MCC) Controller specific to their fleet.
- Diligently completes all associated paperwork for maintenance abnormalities or discrepancies.
- Performs other duties as assigned, depending on specific operational requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Certifications and Licenses
- Possession of a written FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate is mandatory.
- A current FAA First Class Medical Certificate is required.
- An FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit is essential.

Minimum Flight Time & ATP Requirements (IAW 14 CFR 61.160)
Candidates must hold an FAA ATP, Restricted ATP, or meet the requirements for an FAA ATP or Restricted ATP (R-ATP) certificate with a multi-engine rating, including:
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- 1,500 hours total flight time experience; or 1,250 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate; or 1,000 hours with military pilot qualification; or 1,000 hours with an appropriate university R-ATP certificate.
- 200 hours cross-country (>50 nm) flight time.
- 250 hours fixed-wing Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
- 100 hours of night flying, or 75 hours with ≥45 night takeoffs and landings.
- 75 hours of instrument time (actual or simulated in-flight, excluding simulator time).
- Completion of the ATP written examination prior to the start of Indoctrination Training.
- 50 hours fixed-wing, multi-engine time.
Additional Requirements
- A valid United States passport and authorization to work in the U.S. and travel internationally without restriction.
- Must possess a valid State driver's license.
- The ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language is essential.
- Must be able to work varying hours, including day and night shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating extreme flexibility and the ability to adjust to rapid schedule changes.
- Effective management of rest periods is crucial to ensure preparedness for flight duty at all times during tours.
- Duty periods may extend up to fourteen hours per day for up to eight consecutive days, potentially spanning different time zones and extreme weather conditions within a single trip.
- While on duty, First Officers may be away from home for seven or more days and nights, requiring hotel stays.
- The ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, including passing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) required background screenings.
- A service-oriented mindset, coupled with a neat, well-groomed appearance and a demonstrated ability to make a positive impression, including strong interpersonal skills for effective passenger interaction.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly under pressure.
- The capability to make quick and accurate decisions, paying close attention to detail from both a technical and passenger-service perspective.
- Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Comfort and willingness to work around animals, including handling and care prior to, during, and after Owner flights.
- Ability to conduct flights for Owners who smoke.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is competitive, ranging from $86,015 to $117,706, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
