Job Overview

Jet Linx is actively seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Second in Command (SIC) to join its esteemed team of aviation professionals. This pivotal role involves operating midsize jet aircraft, specifically the Citation XLS/XLS+, under both Part 91 and Part 135 flight operations. Prospective candidates must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Omaha, NE base area, ensuring an ability to meet a strict 2-hour call-out time from their home base.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Base Chief Pilot, the Second in Command (SIC) plays a crucial role in preparing for and ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company aircraft. This individual diligently adheres to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Jet Linx's stringent operational procedures, upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism within private aviation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage duty, flight, and rest periods in strict accordance with company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations (CFRs).
  • Maintain continuous and clear communication with company operations regarding standby duty assignments, trip notifications, position calls, and the submission of accurate pre- and post-flight reports.
  • Proactively manage and maintain electronic flight bag (EFB) hardware and software applications, ensuring their readiness and currency for all flights.
  • Verify the currency and accessibility of all navigation charts, aviation publications, and company operational manuals.
  • Possess and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Exhibit strong, proactive, and sound decision-making abilities under various operational conditions.
  • Consistently demonstrate Jet Linx's core values in all professional interactions and operational conduct.

Qualifications

Minimum Flight Time Requirements:

  • Minimum 1,500 hours Total Time.
  • Minimum 500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) time.
  • Minimum 500 hours Multi-Engine time.
  • Minimum 100 hours Turbine time.
  • Minimum 150 hours Instrument time.

Additional Requirements:

  • Preferred: Initial or recurrent Part 142 training in type (Citation XLS/XLS+) within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Possess a current and valid passport, enabling international travel.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • Possess a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Hold an FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and consent to random drug and alcohol testing as required by regulations.
  • Unrestricted ability to travel internationally, including to Canada and Caribbean countries.
  • Ability to release and successfully pass an FAA Pilot Record Database (PRD) review with a System Chief Pilot.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational demands dictate.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional work experience is required.

Physical Demands

  • The role primarily involves work in and around aircraft and at aviation terminals.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting base annual salary for this pivotal Second in Command position ranges from $89,000 to $125,000. The actual base salary provided is determined by geographic location, aircraft size (crew positions), and the candidate's comprehensive education, training, and experience.
