Jet Linx, a premier private aviation company, is actively seeking a highly skilled and professional Second in Command (SIC) for its Citation XLS/XLS+ Midsize jet fleet. This full-time position, based in Missoula, Montana, offers an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated aviation professional to contribute to safe and efficient Part 91 and Part 135 flight operations. Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Base Chief Pilot, the Second in Command is instrumental in preparing for and executing the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft. This role requires strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established company procedures, ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational integrity are maintained during all flight missions.
Key Responsibilities
The Second in Command will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, including:
- Meticulously managing duty, flight, and rest times to ensure compliance with both company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Maintaining consistent and clear communication with company operations regarding standby assignments, trip notifications, position reports, and pre- and post-flight documentation.
- Proficiently maintaining and managing Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) hardware and applications, ensuring operational readiness.
- Verifying the currency of all necessary navigation charts, aeronautical publications, and company operational manuals.
- Upholding a valid First-Class FAA Medical Certificate at all times.
- Demonstrating strong, proactive, and sound decision-making skills in all operational scenarios.
- Consistently embodying and promoting Jet Linx’s core values in every interaction and aspect of the role.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the Second in Command position must meet the following minimum flight hour requirements:
- Total Time: 1500 hours
- Total Pilot-in-Command (PIC): 500 hours
- Total Multi-Engine: 500 hours
- Total Turbine: 100 hours
- Total Instrument: 150 hours
Additional Requirements & Preferences
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- A current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- An Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
- An FCC Restricted Radio License.
- The ability to obtain a U.S. driver's license.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- A current passport with unrestricted ability to travel to Canada and Caribbean countries.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and submission to random drug/alcohol testing as required by regulations.
- The ability to pass a thorough FAA Pilot Record Database (PRD) review with a System Chief Pilot.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as operational demands dictate.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred: Initial or recurrent Part 142 training in type (Citation XLS/XLS+) within the last 24 months.
- Relocation: Candidates must reside, or be willing to relocate, within a two-hour call-out time of their Missoula home base.
Physical Demands
The role primarily involves working in and around aircraft and airport terminals. The ability to move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis is required.
Compensation & Benefits

The starting base annual salary for this position ranges from $89,000 to $125,000, with the actual salary dependent on factors such as geographic location, aircraft size, crew position, relevant education, training, and experience.
