First Officer Experienced – Horizon Air

Role Summary
The First Officer Experienced is responsible for ensuring the safety and positive experience of all Horizon Air (QX) guests while maintaining the highest level of professionalism. This is a union-represented position.
Key Duties

Perform as Second in Command in the transport of passengers, mail, and freight. This includes responsibility for all aspects of flight conduct, pre-flight paperwork and restrictions, safe flight operations, and post-flight duties.

Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), company flight procedures, and company policies on all scheduled routes.

Coordinate operational tasks, including fueling, loading, and passenger handling, in accordance with the FOM, FARs, and CRFs.

Maintain high standards of Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) and demonstrate effective teamwork with all operational departments.

Serve as a professional representative of the company, upholding strict grooming standards and professional demeanor at all times.
Requirements

Minimum of 200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time (per FAR § 121.436(a)(3)), verified via logbooks.

Minimum of 1,465 hours total flight time or R-ATP qualified.

500 hours of cross-country flight time (200 hours if R-ATP or military qualified).

100 hours of night flight time.

250 total hours of flight time as Pilot in Command, including 100 hours of cross-country and 25 hours of night flight.

75 hours of instrument flight time (actual or simulated).

25 hours of multi-engine flight time.

FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.

FCC restricted radiotelephone operator permit.

Valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to/from the U.S. and a valid Driver’s License.

Demonstrated leadership, judgment, and command ability.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum age of 21; must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and willingness to accept base assignments in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
Preferred Qualifications

100 hours of multi-engine flight time.

100 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.

Four-year degree from an accredited university.
Airport SIDA Badge
Employees in this role are required to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge. Failure to qualify for or maintain this badge will result in termination of employment.
Total Rewards & Compensation

First-year pay rate: $92.72.

Monthly pay guarantee (Jet): 75 credit hours; Reserve pay guarantee: 73 credit hours.
