Job Overview: First Officer Experienced

Horizon Air is seeking an experienced First Officer to join their flight operations team. As a key representative of the company, the First Officer ensures a safe, professional, and positive experience for all guests while flying throughout the West. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Second in Command for the transport of passengers, mail, and freight, overseeing all aspects of flight duties, including preflight paperwork and post-flight requirements.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), company flight procedures, and internal policies to maintain the highest standards of safety.
  • Coordinate operational tasks, including fueling, loading, and passenger handling, in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Maintain effective Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) and collaborate across all operational departments.
  • Uphold professional grooming and conduct standards at all times.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must hold a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
  • Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate and FCC restricted radiotelephone operator permit.
  • Minimum 1,465 hours of total flight time or R-ATP qualification.
  • 200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time (per FAR § 121.436(a)(3)) or equivalent qualifying experience as defined by federal regulation.
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time (200 if R-ATP or military qualified).
  • 100 hours night flight time.
  • 250 hours total as pilot in command (including 100 hours cross-country and 25 hours night).
  • 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time and 25 hours of multi-engine time.
  • Demonstrated leadership, maturity, and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to accept base assignments in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
  • Availability to work a varied, multi-day schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 100 hours of multi-engine flight time.
  • 100 hours of flight time within the previous 12 months.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited university.

Airport Security Requirements

Employees in this role are required to obtain and maintain an Airport SIDA badge. Failure to qualify for or maintain this badge will result in termination of employment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • First-year pay rate: $92.72.
  • Longevity match program available for pilots with prior Part 121 experience (no cap).
  • Monthly pay guarantee (jet): 75 credit hours; Reserve pay guarantee: 73 credit hours.

Regulatory Information
