Role Summary
The First Officer Experienced is responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of Horizon Air guests while maintaining a high level of professional conduct. This is a union-represented position.
Key Duties

Perform as Second in Command during the transport of passengers, mail, freight, and other commercial operations.

Execute all flight aspects, including preflight documentation, safe flight conduct, and post-flight procedures.

Maintain strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA), company flight procedures, and internal policies.

Coordinate operational tasks, including aircraft fueling, loading, and passenger handling, in accordance with the Flight Operations Manual (FOM) and relevant federal regulations.

Collaborate effectively within the flight deck (Cockpit Resource Management) and across operational departments.

Uphold a professional image and demeanor as a representative of the company.
Required Qualifications

Minimum 21 years of age.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Authorization to work in the U.S.
-
FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

Current First-Class FAA Medical Certificate.
-
FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.

Valid driver’s license and a valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S.

200 hours of FAA-approved Prior Qualifying Time per FAR § 121.436(a)(3) or equivalent military/Part 91/135 experience.

Minimum 1,465 hours total flight time (or R-ATP qualified).

500 hours cross-country flight time (or 200 hours if R-ATP or military qualified).

100 hours night flight time.

250 hours as Pilot in Command (including 100 hours cross-country and 25 hours night).

75 hours instrument flight time (actual or simulated).

25 hours multi-engine flight time.

Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays, and multi-day trips away from home.

Willingness to accept base assignments in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Medford, OR; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
Preferred Qualifications

100 hours multi-engine flight time.

100 hours flight time logged within the last 12 months.

Four-year degree from an accredited university.
Airport SIDA Badge Requirements
Employees in this role must obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge issued by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain this badge will result in termination of employment.
Compensation and Benefits

First-year pay rate: $92.72.

Monthly pay guarantee (jet): 75 credit hours; Reserve pay guarantee: 73 credit hours.
