Role Summary
The First Officer is responsible for co-piloting flights, ensuring the utmost safety of all passengers and maintaining a high level of professionalism. This role is integral to delivering a positive guest experience on every journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform duties as Second in Command for the transportation of passengers, mail, or freight for commercial purposes.
- Adhere strictly to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Company Flight Procedures, and Company Policies on all scheduled flights and routes to guarantee flight safety.
- Conduct all business activities with a consistently professional manner and demeanor.
- Operate company aircraft in accordance with established Qualification Standards, Flight Manual operating procedures, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with all required agencies and personnel, adhering to Company Communication Practices.
- Possess knowledge commensurate with the holder of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, including a comprehensive understanding of applicable FARs and the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM).
Qualifications and Experience
Alaska Airlines Seniority List Requirements:
Required:
- Minimum of 1,500 hours of total documented flight time.
- A current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- Minimum of 500 hours of fixed-wing turbine time (airplane and powered lift combined).
- Possession of a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States, with at least six months of validity remaining at the time of employment. Employees with non-U.S. passports require appropriate travel documentation.
- Ability to travel immediately and repeatedly to domestic and international locations served by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument-Airplane rating.
- Completion of all aeronautical experience requirements for an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with an Airplane category rating, as set forth in 14 CFR §61.159.
- Current ATP written exam passed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A valid Driver’s License issued by a U.S. state or U.S. territory.
- Comfort with domiciles in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Anchorage, AK; Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA.
- Demonstrated excellent judgment, leadership skills, commandability, and maturity.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
- Capacity to maintain composure under pressure.
- Minimum age of 23 years.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Four-year degree from an accredited university.
- An FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- 500 hours of multi-engine airplane time.
- Minimum of 50 hours of flight time within the last 12 months.
- 500 hours of turbine Pilot-In-Command (PIC) time.
- Turbojet/turboprop experience in a complex operational environment.
Hawaiian Airlines Seniority List Requirements:
Required:

Compensation and Benefits
Pay Details:
- Alaska Seniority List: First year pay rate: $124.72 per hour (per contract). Monthly pay guarantee: 70 hours. Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 84 hours (short call).
- Hawaiian Seniority List: First year pay rate: $87.00 per hour (per contract). Monthly pay guarantee: 75 hours. Reserve pay guarantee: 75 hours (long call); 75 hours (short call).
