Job Summary
The Flight Attendant is an essential member of the Frontier Airlines crew, primarily responsible for the well-being, safety, security, and comfort of passengers. This role requires the provision of outstanding customer service, adept handling of passenger inquiries and concerns, and the sale of onboard products. Flight Attendants must strictly adhere to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and Frontier Airlines policies, ensuring preparedness to respond effectively to inflight emergencies and security situations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The core duties of a Frontier Airlines Flight Attendant include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensuring strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations and established Frontier Airlines policies and procedures.
- Initiating and conducting emergency evacuations of the cabin as necessary.
- Conducting thorough preflight safety checks of cabin emergency equipment.
- Ensuring proper loading and secure storage of carry-on luggage throughout all flight phases.
- Maintaining cabin safety and security during boarding, inflight, and deplaning operations.
- Preparing and securing aircraft doors, and delivering departure/arrival announcements via the public address system.
- Providing clear instructions and demonstrations of onboard safety features to passengers.
- Managing galley setup, verifying supplies, and handling beverage and snack service, including sales, collection, and informing passengers of onboard products.
- Administering emergency medical assistance, such as CPR and basic first aid, when required.
- Consistently projecting and maintaining a positive attitude and composure under all circumstances.
- Performing tasks that involve frequent walking, bending to ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level to retrieve or store items in overhead bins.
- Demonstrating dependability and commitment to completing work assignments in accordance with Frontier Airlines policies.
- Maintaining a professional appearance and strict compliance with uniform and appearance guidelines while in public view.
- Participating in and complying with all Department of Transportation (DOT), FAA, and Frontier Airlines regulations pertaining to drug and alcohol compliance for safety-sensitive employees.
- Executing other duties as required to ensure operational excellence and passenger satisfaction.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.
- Applicants must be at least 20 years of age to commence the interview process.
- Possession of a valid passport is mandatory, along with the ability to travel in and out of the United States, including to all current and future international destinations served by Frontier Airlines.
- Must consistently present a neat, professional appearance and demeanor, strictly adhering to Frontier Inflight uniform and appearance guidelines.
- Willingness to relocate to an assigned base location.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as dictated by operational needs.
- Readiness to travel for prolonged periods as an integral part of the job.
- Adaptability to changes in job demands, including accepting schedule modifications on short notice.
- Commitment to flying both international and domestic routes.
- 1 to 2 years of customer service experience is preferred.
Tattoo Policy:
Flight Attendants must adhere to Frontier Airlines' strict tattoo policy. Tattoos are prohibited on the hands or anywhere above the collar bone (e.g., neck, face, behind the ear). Tattoos primarily covered by a uniform garment, but which may become briefly exposed during the normal course of duties (e.g., on the forearm, wrist, leg, or ankle), may be covered with makeup. This makeup must precisely match the Flight Attendant’s skin tone, be applied conservatively without caking or flaking, and be waterproof to prevent transfer to the uniform. The use of bandages or compression sleeves for covering tattoos is not permitted. All other tattoos must remain completely out of sight and covered by the uniform at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Must be fluent in reading, speaking, and writing English.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and reassure passengers in hurried and stressful environments.
- Capability to work both independently as a leader and collaboratively as a team member among colleagues and passengers.
- Physical capacity for heavy lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 60 pounds frequently.
- Ability to sit securely in and be properly fastened with a seatbelt and shoulder harness in all jump seats without the need for extensions or modifications to the seat's integrity.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Equipment Operated:
The role involves regular operation of various aircraft cabin equipment, including beverage/snack carts, galley equipment, Point-of-Sale (POS) devices/systems, flight stairs, aircraft cabin doors, and emergency equipment.
Work Environment:
The working environment is characterized by varying climate conditions, air turbulence, changing geographic locations, and variable hours. Flight Attendants perform duties in a pressurized cabin, which entails exposure to dry air, engine noise, dim lighting, and confined spaces. The environment is typically fast-paced and physically demanding, with work shifts varying to include days, weekends, evenings, red-eyes, and holidays.
Physical Effort:
The position requires significant physical capabilities, including:
- Performing frequent repetitive motions, such as bending at the waist and knees, and sustaining these positions for extended periods.
- Maintaining 20/20 (or "sufficient") vision and hearing to safely execute all essential functions.
- Ability to clearly hear, interpret, and respond to onboard chime systems, call buttons, and announcements or directions provided via the interphone and public address system.
- Capacity to stand throughout most of the work shift.
- Performing in-flight duties within a pressurized cabin for extended durations.
- Possessing the physical strength required to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, including potentially heavy window exits (up to 33 lbs) and investigating door “emergency mode” resistance.
- Ability to push, pull, and move a galley cart weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Moderate physical activity, requiring the handling of objects up to 50 lbs occasionally and/or up to 35 lbs frequently.
- Ability to lift a 35 lb luggage piece from the floor to 33 inches (e.g., passenger seat height) and from 33 inches to 67 inches (e.g., overhead compartment height).
- Ability to reach into overhead compartments with a height of 67 inches and a depth of 28 inches.
- Ability to maintain balance and reach across seats to serve passengers.
- Must be properly secured in the cabin jumpseat by the safety belt and shoulder harness without the use of seatbelt extensions.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly rate for the Flight Attendant position is $25.50.
