Flight Attendant Position
United is currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 30,000 active flight attendants. Position Overview
Successful candidates will complete 6.5 weeks of initial training in Houston, TX, covering safety and service standards. Upon graduation, flight attendants will be assigned to one of our seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, or Washington Dulles. This is a full-time position requiring 24/7 availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. Candidates must be prepared for reserve assignments and frequent travel away from their assigned base.
Core Responsibilities

Prioritize the safety of all passengers and crew members at all times.

Provide exceptional customer service with a positive, compassionate, and professional demeanor.

Resolve customer issues through effective communication and sound judgment.

Perform physical tasks, including operating aircraft doors, lifting luggage, and maneuvering beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).

Maintain high standards of personal grooming and adhere to uniform and tattoo policies.

Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, professionally.

Utilize electronic devices (tablets, phones, laptops) to complete job requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.

High school diploma or GED required; 2+ years of college preferred.

Minimum of one year of customer service experience in industries such as retail, hospitality, food service, education, or aviation.

Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Second language proficiency (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog) is highly desirable.

Must possess a valid passport with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.

Legal authorization to work in the United States and the ability to travel globally without restrictions.

Must pass a 10-year background check, fingerprinting, and DOT/FAA pre-employment and random drug screenings.

Meet hearing and vision requirements established by the FAA and United Airlines.

Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).

Must successfully complete a water evacuation drill.
Compensation and Benefits

Starting hourly flight pay: $37.10/hour, with a scale reaching $100.13/hour by 2030.

Additional compensation available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Training support: $140/week stipend, dual-occupancy accommodations, and two meals per day during the training period.
