Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize the safety of all passengers and crew members at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor in diverse scenarios.
  • Effectively resolve customer issues with compassion, judgment, and clear communication.
  • Operate in a 24/7 global environment, including nights, weekends, holidays, and reserve assignments.
  • Maintain high levels of dependability, timeliness, and teamwork.
  • Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.
  • Operate electronic devices proficiently to complete assigned tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social service).
  • Fluency in English (speak, read, write, and understand). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a valid passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application.
  • Ability to travel globally without restrictions to all countries served by United.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Meet physical requirements: 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (without shoes), ability to lift heavy objects, and ability to push/pull beverage carts up to 250 lbs.
  • Must pass a 10-year criminal background check, DOT/FAA drug screens (including zero tolerance for marijuana), and vision/hearing tests.
  • Adherence to professional grooming standards and tattoo policies: no tattoos on the head, neck, hands, or fingers. Visible tattoos on arms, legs, or feet must not exceed 3.5 inches by 2.24 inches and must be non-offensive.

Training and Compensation

The role includes 6.5 weeks of initial training in Houston, TX. During this period, trainees receive a $140/week stipend, housing, and partial meal coverage. Upon successful graduation, employees receive a $1,000 bonus.

Compensation includes a starting flight pay rate of $37.10/hour, with a scale reaching $100.13/hour by 2030. Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
