Qualifications and Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.

High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.

Minimum of one year of experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social service).

Fluency in English (speak, read, write, and understand). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.

Must possess a valid passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages at the time of application.

Ability to travel globally without restrictions to all countries served by United.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Meet physical requirements: 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (without shoes), ability to lift heavy objects, and ability to push/pull beverage carts up to 250 lbs.

Must pass a 10-year criminal background check, DOT/FAA drug screens (including zero tolerance for marijuana), and vision/hearing tests.

Adherence to professional grooming standards and tattoo policies: no tattoos on the head, neck, hands, or fingers. Visible tattoos on arms, legs, or feet must not exceed 3.5 inches by 2.24 inches and must be non-offensive.
Training and Compensation
The role includes 6.5 weeks of initial training in Houston, TX. During this period, trainees receive a $140/week stipend, housing, and partial meal coverage. Upon successful graduation, employees receive a $1,000 bonus.
Compensation includes a starting flight pay rate of $37.10/hour, with a scale reaching $100.13/hour by 2030. Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
