Position Overview

United Airlines is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Flight Attendants. Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance: Prioritize the safety of all passengers, maintain regulatory standards, and demonstrate the ability to handle high-stress situations such as security threats, medical emergencies, and evacuations.
  • Customer Service: Utilize interpersonal skills to resolve passenger issues with compassion and grace, fostering customer loyalty through a "people-first" approach.
  • Operational Flexibility: Maintain availability for 24/7 global assignments, including weekends, holidays, and nights. Candidates must be prepared for short-notice reserve assignments and extended periods away from their home base.
  • Team Collaboration: Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as a cohesive member of an inflight crew.
  • Professional Representation: Adhere to professional grooming and uniform standards while representing the United brand.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 at the time of application.
  • High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service experience in industries such as retail, hospitality, education, or aviation.
  • Fluency in English (speak, read, write, and understand). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a valid passport book with at least 12 months of remaining validity and two consecutive blank pages.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal history.
  • Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screenings (marijuana is prohibited).
  • Physical requirements: Ability to stand, walk, lift, reach, and maneuver equipment (including a 250 lb. beverage cart).
  • Functional Reach Assessment: Must be able to demonstrate a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (unsupported).
  • Visual and hearing acuity must meet FAA/United standards.

Training and Onboarding

Successful candidates will undergo 6.5 weeks of intensive training in Houston, TX. During this period, United provides a $140 weekly stipend, dual-occupancy hotel accommodations, and daily meals. Graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of the program and base orientation.

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $37.10, with progression to $100.13 by 2030.
