First Officer, A320 Family
Job Purpose
The First Officer is responsible for conducting assigned flights in strict adherence to the Company Operational Manual and all relevant Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations. This pivotal role demands the highest standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency throughout all flight operations. The First Officer provides essential support and guidance to flight and cabin crew, effectively manages emergencies and unforeseen scenarios, and maintains control of the aircraft to ensure successful performance and uphold the corporate image. Key responsibilities include flying aircraft between destinations according to scheduled itineraries and approved flight plans. The First Officer bears ultimate responsibility for the aircraft during assigned flights, prioritizing safety, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort in that order.
Experience, Qualifications and Requirements
- A minimum of 750 flying hours on A320 Family aircraft is required.
- Possession of valid licenses, a current Class 1 Medical Certificate, and a valid Instrument Rating (IR) is mandatory.
- A valid English Language Proficiency (ELP) certification at ICAO Level 4 or above is essential.
- An appropriate Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is required; an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is highly preferred.
- Candidates must successfully pass all technical, psychometric, and medical fitness assessments for pilots, in accordance with Company and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards.
- Demonstrated training in safety and emergency response procedures is essential; a formal qualification in this area is advantageous.
- Familiarity with basic airport and security procedures and regulations is beneficial.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of IATA principles and standards relating to aviation security is advantageous.
- Proficiency in aircraft systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and general internet and web search tools is required.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, is essential, including the ability to write technical reports and deliver presentations.
- Prior experience with a low-cost airline is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
