Contract Specification
- This is a 15-month fixed-term contract, renewable by mutual agreement for further periods.
- The contract structure includes approximately three months of initial training, followed by 12 months of active flying duties.
Key Responsibilities and Decision-Making Parameters
The A320 Captain is entrusted with significant decision-making authority and responsibility, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
- Commanding assigned aircraft in strict accordance with the Airline Operational Manual and all relevant civil aviation authority regulations.
- Assuming ultimate responsibility for the aircraft throughout all assigned flights, ensuring paramount safety, security, and efficiency.
- Providing strong leadership and guidance to flight and cabin crew, effectively managing emergencies and ad-hoc scenarios to ensure successful flight performance and uphold a positive corporate image.
- Consulting with the Chief Pilot, Maintenance Control Centre, Operations Control Centre, and Head of Flight Operations on any non-routine or critical actions prior to execution, ensuring all duties are performed through proper channels and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Executing assigned flights according to given schedules and approved flight plans.
- Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining all necessary procedures to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the aircraft.
- Ensuring timely attendance, proper grooming, fitness, and legal readiness for both self and the flight crew for all assigned flights.
- Conducting comprehensive pre-flight briefings to ensure all crew members are fully informed of flight details and operational procedures.
- Liaising effectively with co-pilots (First Officer and Second Officer) and the Dispatch Team before each flight to ensure thorough preparation and provision of critical information, including aircraft technical status, route preferences, weather, fuel, weight, and role distribution.
- Ensuring the most efficient and effective use of fuel during flights, while strictly adhering to safety constraints detailed in the Airline’s Operations Manual.
- Overseeing the completion of all required safety, security, fuel, and transit checks by flight and cabin crew members before, during, and after each flight.
- Providing decisive action and clear direction to the crew in response to safety or security irregularities, escalating issues as necessary.
Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)
- Possession of an appropriate Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) is mandatory.
- Successful completion of technical and psychometric assessments for pilots, adhering to airline and respective civil aviation authority standards.
- Attainment of a Medical Fitness Certificate in accordance with airline and respective civil aviation authority standards.
- Essential training in safety and emergency response; a formal qualification in this area is an advantage.
- Familiarity with basic airport, security procedures, and regulations training is advantageous.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of IATA principles and standards relating to security is beneficial.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 4,000 hours of total flying experience.
- A minimum of 800 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) on the Airbus A320 type.
- Demonstrated comprehensive industry knowledge in aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Proven exposure to Quality Assurance (QA), Safety, Security, and Audit procedures and practices relevant to Flight Operations.
- Capable of implementing policies, procedures, and manuals in adherence to approved standards and regulations.
- Possession of a cost-oriented mindset, coupled with effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Exhibits high accuracy and meticulous attention to both results and details.
Salary and Benefits
- Monthly Net Salary During Initial Training: AED 20,199 (equivalent to approximately US$5,500) per month (pro-rated for part of the month), plus Per Diem, until the Final Line Check.
- Monthly Net Salary After Training / Final Line Check: AED 27,544 (equivalent to approximately US$7,500) per month (for up to 60 block hours), plus Per Diem.
- Overtime Flying Pay: Every block hour above 60 block hours in a month will be paid at AED 404 (equivalent to approximately US$110).
- Per Diem: AED 184 (equivalent to approximately US$50) per day, covering food and other miscellaneous expenses (averaging approximately US$1,500 per month).
- Accommodation: Suitable hotel accommodation on a Bed & Breakfast basis will be provided at the base of operation and layover stations for the full duration of the contract. This includes personal laundry service (4 pieces of clothing per day at the hotel).
- Transportation: Suitable ground transportation will be provided from accommodation to and from Airports/Office for all rostered flight duties.
- Travel Benefits:
- Company-arranged and paid economy class tickets for the commencement and end of the contract, along including up to 50 kg of baggage allowance.
- Unlimited standby tickets on the Air Arabia group network during the contract period.
- Eligibility for MYID travel benefits after completion of six months of service.
- Uniforms & Laundry: Provision of uniforms and laundry service for the duration of the contract.
- Annual Leave & Roster:
- Entitlement to 30 calendar days of Annual Leave Vacation (ALV) per completed year of service, accruing at 2.5 days per month.
- Paid vacation is granted following the successful completion of initial training and Line Flying release in the UAE, as well as upon the commencement of regular rostered flying duties in Pakistan.
- Paid vacation days will be combined with rostered OFF days each month, guaranteeing a minimum of seven consecutive free-of-duty days (Paid Vacation + OFF days) per month.
