Position Overview
The Simulator Second in Command is a critical role responsible for maintaining proficiency in assigned training programs. This position enables the individual to serve as a qualified "Second-In-Command" (SIC) for both internal and external customer pilots undergoing recurrent, initial, or generic training courses within the established curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a competent Second-in-Command (SIC) for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who do not have a flying partner. In this capacity, the individual will support training without performing instructional duties.
Maintain SIC pilot qualifications in strict accordance with the requirements of assigned programs.
Uphold SIC qualifications in adherence to FlightSafety International's Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
Ensure all required certificates, ratings, and designations necessary for SIC duties remain current.
Serve as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Education
A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is required, coupled with two to three (2-3) years of relevant experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Minimum Experience
Prior to commencing SIC duties, candidates must possess the following:
A Commercial Pilot Certificate with the appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings.
A minimum of 450 flight hours.
Skills and Abilities
Fluency in English, demonstrated through excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write effectively.
Exceptional cockpit verbal communication abilities.
Proven ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of customers.
Capacity to adapt to dynamic schedules and perform effectively under pressure.
Proficiency in a second language may be advantageous or required at specific Learning Centers.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role involves regular use of hands for fine motor skills, reaching, and manipulation of controls. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and potentially taste or smell. The employee must be capable of full range of body motion, including:
Reaching, applying pressure, and manipulating rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
Reaching and manipulating numerous controls within the simulator.
Entering and exiting the simulator via a provided ramp.
Safely exiting a malfunctioning simulator, even in severe pitch attitudes.
Specific vision abilities are essential, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to high or precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid environments, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, radiation, and vibration may occur. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate.
