Co-Pilot Job Description
This role is a key component of Etihad Airways' flight operations, requiring a highly skilled and experienced aviator. The Co-Pilot plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of each flight, working in close collaboration with the Commander.
Responsibilities:
- Safety and Security: The Co-Pilot is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the aircraft, passengers, and cargo, adhering to all relevant regulations and procedures. In the absence of the Commander, the Co-Pilot assumes responsibility for these aspects of the flight.
- Operations Manual Familiarity: The Co-Pilot must maintain a thorough understanding of Etihad Airways' Operations Manual, ensuring compliance with all applicable procedures and ensuring safe and professional flight operations.
- Commander Support: The Co-Pilot assists the Commander in various administrative tasks related to the flight, providing support as required.
- Crew Discipline and Conduct: The Co-Pilot actively contributes to maintaining a high standard of crew discipline, conduct, and personal appearance, ensuring a professional and harmonious flight environment.
- Flight Operations Execution: The Co-Pilot carries out duties assigned by the Commander, ensuring adherence to Etihad Airways' operating policies and procedures.
- Navigation and Safety: The Co-Pilot independently monitors the aircraft's geographical position, verifying terrain and weather clearance for safe flight operations.
- Flight Plan and Communication: When not at the controls, the Co-Pilot conducts the flight in compliance with the current flight plan, SOPs, and the Commander's instructions. They are responsible for informing the Commander of any changes to the flight plan, air traffic control instructions, or geographical position upon the Commander's return to the controls.
- Advice and Assistance: The Co-Pilot readily provides advice, information, and assistance to the Commander, contributing to the safe and efficient conduct of the flight.
- Professional Representation: The Co-Pilot maintains a high personal standard of discipline, conduct, and appearance, representing Etihad Airways in a professional manner at all times.
- Commander Incapacitation: In the event of the Commander's incapacitation, the highest ranking Co-Pilot assigned to the flight assumes command.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2,500 hours of total flying time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit, or high-performance military jets.
- 500 hours on any Boeing aircraft.
- Current on any Boeing aircraft.
- Current and unrestricted ICAO ATPL. Frozen ATPLs are only accepted from UAE citizens.
- Current and unrestricted Class 1 medical certificate.
- Maximum age limit of 50 years.
- English Language Fluency (written and verbal) Level 4 or better.
- For hours accumulated on flights with in-flight relief, 75% of the total hours shall be counted towards the required minimums.
Salary and Benefits:
- Fixed pay of AED 26,000 per month.
- Flight duty allowance:
- 1-6 years of service: AED 40 per block hour
- 7-18 years of service: AED 56 per block hour
- Meal allowance during layovers:
- Middle East/GCC/Subcontinent: AED 12 per hour
- Asia/Far East: AED 15 per hour
- Africa/Australasia: AED 18 per hour
- Europe/Americas: AED 23 per hour
- Housing allowance up to AED 160,000 per year.
- Education allowance of AED 36,000 for primary and AED 50,400 for secondary education for up to 3 children.
