Aviation Co-op, Pilot Pay Experience Improvement

Position Overview

Delta Air Lines seeks a highly motivated Co-op student with a strong business curiosity and creative problem-solving aptitude to contribute to the enhancement of the Pilot Pay Experience. This co-op opportunity involves close collaboration with teams dedicated to providing efficient, accurate, and user-friendly support to pilots and pay-adjacent stakeholders, all in alignment with Flight Operations' pay strategy. The role offers significant opportunities to directly impact operational excellence through various key responsibilities:

  • Identify, visualize, analyze, and optimize complex business processes.
  • Support the development of critical Knowledge Management content, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), a comprehensive Glossary of Terminology, and team-specific documentation.
  • Apply industrial engineering and Six Sigma principles to refine and improve business processes.
  • Provide direct customer service to pilots by responding to inquiries submitted to Crew Resources and disseminating applicable pay updates.
  • Identify and create innovative, improved processes to adapt to evolving operational needs.
  • Assist in identifying manual processes and developing novel solutions to drive efficiency across all facets of pilot pay administration.
  • Support the delivery of new tools, content, and communication initiatives.
  • Leverage business process documentation and established knowledge to facilitate training for new hires, recurrent training, and the adoption of new delivery technologies.
  • Commit to a structured, 3-semester rotation with the same team, fostering continuity and deep collaborative engagement throughout the co-op experience.

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Exhibit a high degree of self-sufficiency, capable of completing assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Possess meticulous attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Display a proactive attitude, eager to accept responsibility and develop value-added projects.
  • Show adaptability and flexibility within a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in interactions with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Commit to completing three alternating work semesters.
  • Exhibit robust written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle and safeguard confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Consistently prioritize the safety and security of oneself, colleagues, and personal data.
  • Embrace diversity in people, ideas, and working styles.
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Co-op Program Structure: This role requires a commitment to three alternating semesters. Active participation in any academic courses (online or in-person) is not permitted concurrently with the co-op role, which may extend graduation timelines by 1-2 semesters.
  • Location & Schedule: Successful candidates must be able to complete three alternating rotations in Atlanta, GA, adhering to the following schedule:
    • Summer 2026 – 1st Rotation
    • Spring 2027 – 2nd Rotation
    • Fall 2027 – 3rd Rotation

Competitive Edge Qualifications

  • Experience or coursework in industrial engineering, Six Sigma, business process management, or related fields.
  • Prior experience in a customer service or support role.
  • Familiarity with aviation industry operations or terminology.
