First Officer - Aviation
Role Summary
The First Officer is responsible for assisting the Pilot-In-Command (PIC) in conducting all flight operations safely, legally, and efficiently, adhering strictly to FAA regulations and the company's Flight Operations Manual (FOM). This role involves a wide range of duties critical to successful flight execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the PIC in flying and navigating the aircraft.
- Contributing to comprehensive flight planning.
- Coordinating special activities with Air Traffic Control (ATC).
- Performing thorough preflight checks and post-flight tasks.
- Communicating with customers, as directed by the PIC, to ensure clarity on flight and schedule objectives, prioritizing safety.
- Utilizing effective Crew Resource Management techniques and procedures during all operations.
- Briefing all flight participants on safety and egress procedures before flight.
- Reporting any mechanical issues or concerns to the Maintenance Department and Chief Pilot, when directed by the PIC.
- Assisting the PIC in completing necessary aircraft administration documents for time tracking and manifests.
- Conducting safe flight operations.
- Performing in-flight monitoring.
- Communicating with Air Traffic Control.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring flexibility in hours. The workday length varies based on customer requirements. The typical schedule follows a 14-day on / 14-day off rotation. Workdays can be long, potentially extending 12-14 hours. Evening and weekend work is required as dictated by job duties and customer needs. Employees on standby duty are required to report to the Hagerstown facility within 24 hours, with shorter report times potentially necessary.
Travel
Travel is a requirement of this position, often involving overnight stays away from the normal working location. Travel may be for extended durations based on customer requests.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial Airplane Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) and Aircraft Single-Engine Land with Commercial privileges, along with Instrument Airplane rating.
- Minimum of 500 hours Total Time (TT) for B350 operations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of 750 hours Total Time (TT) for B350 operations.
Other Hiring Requirements:
- Current Passport with unrestricted international travel privileges.
- Current FAA First or Second Class Medical Certificate.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizen status upon hire.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a DOD Top Secret Level Clearance (at minimum).
- Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
