Job Overview and Summary
The Cirrus Aircraft Flight Instructor delivers elite, learner-centric aviation training, setting the industry standard for customer instruction in the iconic Cirrus Aircraft SR series. Operating from premier Cirrus Services Centers nationwide, the instructor utilizes proprietary, structured course syllabi to ensure optimal customer progression and safety. This role is crucial for maintaining Cirrus's reputation for excellence and requires a dedication to mastery of subject matter and professional representation of the brand.
The instructor is expected to fulfill comprehensive flight instruction duties, alongside essential corporate flight operations. This position reports directly to the Flight Operations Director.
Work Schedule
This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor is charged with executing a broad range of high-level instructional and operational duties, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of safety and professionalism:
Instructional and Training Functions
- Provides industry-leading flight and ground instruction in the Cirrus SR model aircraft, strictly adhering to standards defined in proprietary policy and procedure documents.
- Customizes training events to discover and meet the unique needs of individual clients, ensuring a streamlined and effective learning process.
- Meticulously assesses pilot performance across the psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains for each training event.
- Meticulously records all training activities, results, and pilot progression, maintaining accurate and comprehensive training records.
- Makes timely and accurate decisions regarding the safety of flight during all instructional events.
- Recommends students for FAA written and practical tests upon satisfactory completion of structured curricula.
Operational and Administrative Functions
- Acts as Pilot in Command (PIC) of Cirrus aircraft while performing 14 CFR Part 91 corporate flight operations, including demonstration flights, ferry flights, internal training, repositioning, and post-maintenance check flights as needed.
- Performs all necessary pre-flight and post-flight inspections, aircraft cleaning, and standard servicing (fueling, oil, de-ice fluid management), and updates essential chart subscriptions.
- Engages in continuous professional development to maintain a deep mastery of the latest technology and operational developments within the Cirrus Aircraft product line.
- Maintains clear and professional communication with clients before and after training events.
- Fulfills ancillary duties, including safety management, complex problem solving, lesson and flight planning preparation, and recommending process improvements.
Required Qualifications
To perform this role successfully, candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
Minimum Flight Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of professional pilot experience.
- A minimum of 750 hours of dual flight instruction given, OR 500 hours of dual instruction given specifically in Cirrus Aircraft.
Required FAA Certificates and Ratings (Current and Valid)
- Airman Medical Certificate: Current Second-Class or higher.
- FAA Pilot Certificate: Commercial Pilot privileges for Airplane Single Engine Land and Instrument Airplane rating.
- FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI): Airplane Single Engine and Instrument Airplane (CFII).
Highly Desired Experience (Preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in complex flight environments, including extensive Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) flying.
- Proven experience with IFR operations in congested airspace.
- Specific experience in mountain flying, international flight operations, and night flight experience.
