Flight Instructor, Part 135

A leading aviation company is seeking a highly qualified pilot to join its Part 135 training department as a full-time Air Transport Flight Instructor (ATFI) based in Hyannis, MA. This position offers the opportunity to play an integral role in developing the skills and ensuring the proficiency of the company's pilot workforce. Compensation for this role is in accordance with the established pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Role Summary
The Air Transport Flight Instructor (ATFI) serves on an as-needed basis, as determined by the Director of Flight Training, to deliver comprehensive ground, simulator, and flight instruction to company pilots. A key requirement of this role is demonstrating the ability to conduct flight training from both the left and right pilot seats to an FAA inspector or Company check pilot, initially and on a recurring two-year basis. The ATFI will successfully complete the company's initial ground school and aircraft-specific flight training, including passing the necessary 135.293 and 135.297 checks. Annual recurrent training and checking are mandatory to maintain ATFI qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Enthusiastically conduct ground, simulator, and flight instruction for company pilots, adhering strictly to the company's flight training manual.
- Review and analyze trainee performance, identifying any deficiencies and providing effective solutions for improvement.
- Ensure all required paperwork and training department communications regarding trainees are completed accurately and promptly.
- Assist the Director of Flight Training with additional duties as necessary to support training operations.
- Conduct initial, recurrent, upgrade, and requalification pilot training, primarily for the Cessna 402 aircraft.
- Maintain current status in all applicable company Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight crew training and qualification requirements.
- Act as a representative of the company's core values, embodying the spirit of providing Safe, Courteous, Professional, and On-Time air service.
Qualifications
- Must hold an Airplane Multi-Engine Land Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or a Multi-Engine-Instrument Rated Commercial Pilot certificate.
- Possess a current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class medical certificate (requirement may be waived for simulator-only instructors).
- Hold a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate or have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) written exam (CFI preferred).
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company operating manuals, OpSpecs, and aircraft systems.
- Meet or exceed the training and currency requirements necessary to serve as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- Be proficient and comfortable utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Be willing and able to perform administrative duties as required.
