Flight Instructor, Part 135

Location: Hyannis, MA, USA

A leading aviation company is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic Flight Instructor to join its Part 135 training department in Hyannis, MA. This is a full-time, regular position for an Air Transport Flight Instructor (ATFI) responsible for delivering exceptional training to company pilots. Compensation is provided in accordance with the pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Role Summary:

The Flight Instructor operates on an as-needed basis, directed by the Director of Flight Training, to provide ground, simulator, and flight instruction. The instructor plays a vital role in developing and maintaining the proficiency of the company's pilot workforce. Maintaining currency in all applicable training and qualification requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ground, simulator, and flight instruction for company pilots with enthusiasm and in strict accordance with the company's flight training manual.
  • Identify trainee deficiencies and provide effective solutions and remedial instruction.
  • Accurately complete all required training documentation and effectively communicate trainee progress and performance to the training department.
  • Provide assistance to the Director of Flight Training with various departmental duties as necessary.
  • Deliver initial, recurrent, upgrade, and requalification pilot training, with specific emphasis on the Cessna 402 aircraft.
  • Maintain personal currency and qualification in all applicable Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight crew requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct flight training from both the left and right pilot seats, initially and at least every two years, as required by an FAA inspector or Company check pilot.
  • Successfully complete company initial ground school, aircraft-specific flight training, and mandated checks (135.293, 135.297).
  • Complete annual recurrent training and checking to maintain ATFI qualifications.
  • Embody and promote the company's spirit of providing Safe, Courteous, Professional, and On-Time air service.

Qualifications:

  • Holds an Airplane Multi-Engine Land Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or a Multi-Engine-Instrument Rated Commercial Pilot certificate.
  • Possesses a current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class medical certificate (not applicable for simulator-only instructors, if applicable).
  • Holds a Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate or has successfully passed the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) exam (preferred).
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company operating manuals, Operations Specifications (OpSpecs), and aircraft systems.
  • Meets the training and currency requirements necessary to serve as a Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
  • Is proficient and comfortable using the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Is willing and able to perform necessary administrative duties.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring successful completion of a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) clearance and enrollment in a Department of Transportation (DOT) Anti-Drug and Alcohol Testing Program (DATP) in accordance with the FAA Code of Federal Regulations.
