Job Summary

The Flight Instructor 4 provides industry-leading, learner-centric flight training to Cirrus customers. This role involves delivering training in iconic Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet aircraft at premier Cirrus Services Centers across the USA, catering to discerning customers who expect the highest standards. Training follows a structured syllabus with proprietary course materials designed to streamline the learning process.

Primary Duties

  • Instructing primarily on the SF50 platform.
  • Conducting Part 142 instruction for type rating and recurrent training (specifically in Knoxville).
  • Providing Part 61 instruction for supervised operating experience and instrument proficiency checks.

General Duties

  • Acting as Pilot in Command of Cirrus aircraft for 14 CFR Part 91 corporate flight operations, including demonstration, repositioning, and post-maintenance flights, as needed.
  • Performing flight reviews, proficiency checks, and other related pilot and flight instructor duties.
  • Reporting to the Flight Operations Supervisor.

Ancillary Duties

  • Identifying and communicating pilot progression and development opportunities.
  • Maintaining meticulous records.
  • Supporting safety management initiatives.
  • Performing flight planning and preparation.
  • Conducting lesson planning and preparation.
  • Engaging in complex problem solving.
  • Maintaining mastery of subject matter material.
  • Recommending process improvements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all industry and Cirrus safety procedures and policies.
  • Providing excellent and professional customer service.
  • Making timely and accurate decisions regarding safety of flight.
  • Conducting training events in accordance with program guidance and requirements.
  • Providing flight and ground instruction according to standards defined in Cirrus policy and procedure documents.
  • Meticulously recording all training event activities and results in pilot training records.
  • Recommending students for FAA written and practical tests.
  • Assessing pilot performance across psychomotor, cognitive, and affective domains for each training event.
  • Identifying opportunities to customize training events to meet individual student needs.
  • Acting as Pilot in Command for corporate flight missions, ferry flights, internal training flights, and demonstration flights.
  • Performing normal pre-flight and post-flight inspections, aircraft cleaning, fueling, oil checks, de-icing fluid replenishment, and chart subscription updates.
  • Engaging in continuous learning regarding the latest developments in the Cirrus Aircraft product line.
  • Maintaining a deep level of aircraft knowledge and serving as a model aviator, flight instructor, and Cirrus representative.
  • Maintaining required communication with students before and after training.
  • Enhancing flight safety through the provision of excellent, high-quality, and standardized flight and ground instruction.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Three years of pilot experience required.
  • 1000 dual given hours or 750 dual given hours in Cirrus aircraft required.
  • SF50 Type Rating required (will be provided for the right candidate); ATP certificate preferred.
  • Meets ATP Single Engine requirements as outlined in FAR 61.159 (1500 total time, 500 XC, 100 Night, 75 Instrument, 250 Airplane PIC).
  • 100 Hours turbine time or currently employed as a pilot by Cirrus Aircraft experience required.
  • Holds a current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single Engine and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Holds a current FAA Pilot Certificate with Commercial Airplane Single Engine Land and Instrument Airplane ratings.
  • Possesses a current Second-class Airman Medical Certificate or higher.
  • Experience with IFR in congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive IMC, international flight, and night operations preferred.
