Flight Instructor, Global 6000/6500

The Defense Group at Leidos seeks a Global 6000/6500 Flight Instructor to join its team in El Paso, TX. This role is pivotal in training and ensuring the proficiency of the next generation of U.S. Army Fixed-Wing Aviators. The successful candidate will uphold the highest standards of aviator skill, safety, professionalism, and customer focus.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive ground and flight training to U.S. Army personnel.
- Conduct and meticulously document flight evaluations in accordance with the Leidos Global 6000/6500 Program of Instruction and/or the U.S. Army Global 6000/6500 Aircrew Training Manual (ATM).
- Manage and monitor aircrew Crew Endurance status to ensure strict compliance with DCMA 8210.1D, AR 95-20, and 14 CFR Part 91 regulations.
- Assist the Senior Flight Instructor in the development, review, and implementation of the Program of Instruction / Syllabus in alignment with U.S. Army TRADOC requirements.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for site interaction with the Government Flight Representative (GFR) and other resident U.S. Government personnel.
- Act as a Contractor's Requesting Official (CRO).
- Operate aircraft in strict adherence to applicable regulations and program/corporate policies and procedures.
- Manage all aircraft movement requests, including coordinating Prior Permission Required (PPRs), Aircraft Personnel Automated Clearance System (APACS) requests, and ensuring Air Transport Order (ATO) compliance.
- Liaise effectively with U.S. Government Flight Operations Personnel and the GFR.
- Execute additional flight operations duties and responsibilities as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree with 17 – 22 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 15 – 20 years of relevant experience, or a Doctorate with 13 – 16 years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- U.S. Citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Must possess a current passport and a valid state driver's license.
- Must hold a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- Requires two (2) or more years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) total time is necessary.
- Must have at least 500 hours of PIC time in a Global 6000/6500 aircraft or a similar aircraft type.
- Must be able to complete a BD-700 Global Vision Type Certification without restrictions.
- Must hold at least a Commercial Airplane Multiengine, Instructor Pilot (CFI/MEI) and Instrument Airplane Airman Certificate.
- An FCC Radio Telephone Operator License is required.
- Must have prior U.S. military aviation experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CFI / CFII / MEI certification is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a BD-700 (6000/6500 series) FAA type rating.
- An active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Current CFI / CFII / MEI certification.
- International experience operating in the North Atlantic High Level Airspace (NAT HLA).
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification.
- 2,000 hours or more of PIC time.
- 1,500 hours or more of Multiengine time.
- 300 hours or more of Instrument (actual) time.
- Holding the relevant rating for the last three (3) consecutive years.
- Experience as a former U.S. Military Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner.
- Specific experience as a U.S. Army Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner.
Pay Range:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $148,850.00 to $269,075.00. Compensation is determined based on various factors, including job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, market data, applicable bargaining agreements, and other legal considerations.
