Overview
CAE x SIMCOM is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Instructor Pilot to join its training team. This critical role involves the delivery of comprehensive ground school and simulator training programs, including Initial, Recurrent, and specialty courses, for our valued customers. Operating under the established standards and policies of CAE x SIMCOM, the Instructor Pilot is deeply focused on fostering customer progress and enhancing performance. This encompasses developing and implementing tailored training approaches, conducting meticulous lesson planning, ensuring proper classroom and simulator setups, and maintaining current training publications and materials. Occasional travel may be a requirement of the position.
Responsibilities
The Instructor Pilot is entrusted with a range of key responsibilities vital to delivering high-quality aviation training. Duties include:
- Providing standardized training within classroom and/or simulator environments (unless specific aircraft training is required) for various programs such as Captain Upgrades, Initial/Recurrent Training, PIC/SIC Evaluations, Differences Training, and Remedial Training.
- Actively enforcing company standards by instructing and requiring adherence to established service and safety protocols.
- Utilizing strong interpersonal, verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills to effectively teach required subjects and provide constructive feedback to trainees.
- Accurately and impartially judging and evaluating pilot performance against established benchmarks.
- Conducting ground and simulator training sessions for customers at SIMCOM facilities.
- Maintaining accurate training records, completing necessary paperwork, and submitting required documents to the company in a timely manner.
- Evaluating customer progress in acquiring skills and knowledge based on the standards established at SIMCOM.
- Serving as a primary liaison between customers and the training center management team.
- Conducting Proficiency Checks and Certification Checks, as authorized under FAR 135/142, if designated and authorized as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE) for CAE x SIMCOM.
- Contributing to the definition of customer training requirements through participation in training conferences and meetings.
- Maintaining required competency and qualifications necessary for authorized instruction.
- Upholding a consistently high level of professionalism in all aspects of the role.
- Performing other related duties and assignments as required to support training operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
Prospective candidates for the Instructor Pilot position should meet the following criteria:
Education
- A High School diploma or state-issued equivalent is required. An Associate or college degree is preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant job experience is required, with demonstrated experience in teaching or training others. Proven experience showcasing a customer service orientation in work assignments is essential.
Licenses & Certifications
- Must hold or have held a professional pilot's license.
- FAR Part 135 experience and a minimum of 5,000 total flight hours are required.
- An unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating are preferred.
- Holding an existing instructor qualification or type rating is preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent fluency in English is mandatory, encompassing strong verbal, written, listening, and reading comprehension.
- The role demands exceptional listening and presentation skills to effectively meet and exceed customer expectations during the training process.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet-based programs, is necessary.
Other
- Must be authorized to live and work in the United States.
- Ability to participate in CAE's DOT Anti-Drug & Alcohol testing program is required.
Working Conditions
The work environment for this role is a dual setting that includes both standard office spaces and flight simulator environments. The position may require occasional light lifting up to 30 lbs and the ability to manage prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
