The Opportunity: Simulator Flight Instructor I

CAE, the worldwide leader in civil aviation training and simulation technology, seeks a highly qualified and dedicated professional for the position of Part-Time Simulator Flight Instructor I. This crucial training role is based in Dallas, Texas, and is focused on instructing the next generation of aviators utilizing the Boeing 737 Next Generation (B737 NG) platform.

The Instructor I is responsible for the expert delivery of aviation training, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory bodies (FAA Part 142) and stringent customer requirements. The primary function involves instructing within a high-fidelity flight simulator or other advanced training devices, complemented by necessary ground school instruction.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

The Simulator Flight Instructor I performs a broad range of instructional duties essential to maintaining CAE's standard of excellence in pilot training. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering comprehensive instructor-led training, including all aspects of FAA Part 142 training and ground school sessions, on the B737 NG platform.
  • Conducting all facets of the Airline Transport Pilot/Certification Training Program (ATP/CTP), covering both ground school and full-motion simulator sessions.
  • Executing pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in a thorough, professional manner, strictly adhering to established CAE or customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Providing specialized simulator flight instruction necessary for the successful issue of licenses, type ratings, and certificates.
  • Meticulously completing all required client training records accurately and comprehensively to ensure detailed client understanding and a seamless handover between instructional staff.
  • Recommending and implementing remedial training strategies for clients who are not meeting required progress milestones.
  • Accurately recording simulator utilization and promptly reporting any observed discrepancies using documented procedures.
  • Tracking the validity of personal instructional qualifications to ensure continuous eligibility to deliver training in accordance with contractual commitments.
  • Acting as a qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the development or revision of curricula and courseware when requested.
  • Accepting training for, and assuming, examiner responsibilities when mandated by the Head of Training.
  • Acting as an invigilator during required written or theoretical examinations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Successful candidates must demonstrate exceptional aviation competency, communication abilities, and a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • A current type rating on the Boeing 737 Next Generation (B737 NG) platform is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of operational experience within an FAA Part 121 program.
  • Holding or having previously held a professional pilot’s license.
  • Successful completion of all Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) written examinations.
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of professional and relevant simulation or instruction experience.
  • Readiness and flexibility to operate night shifts, as dictated by simulator scheduling and availability.
  • Possessing the minimum experience required by the Regulatory Authority for the issuance of an instructor rating.
  • Fluency in the English language is essential.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Possession of an existing instructor qualification or rating issued by a recognized Regulatory Authority.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in an aviation or job-related field, or proven equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all relevant aviation regulations.
  • Ability to maintain strong customer orientation, even under adverse circumstances.
  • Strong ability to concentrate and thrive in a fast-paced training environment.
