This is a full-time, regular employment opportunity for a skilled JTAC Instructor/Operator within the Training job category. The position requires a minimum Secret security clearance. A percentage of travel, up to 25% local travel, may be required.
The Opportunity
The JTAC Instructor/Operator will be instrumental in operating advanced Fire Support/Terminal Attack Control simulators, delivering essential Close Air Support (CAS) familiarization instruction. A core responsibility includes the planning, development, scheduling, and synchronization of all JTAC trainer/simulator operations. The role demands the creation of realistic and challenging simulator training scenarios, meticulously aligned with supported command operational outcomes and objectives. Furthermore, the JTAC Instructor/Operator will contribute to the development of training and mission rehearsal tasks, fostering a common framework for the integration of Live, Virtual, Constructive, Gaming (LVCG) and Synthetic Training Environment (STE) systems. This includes the simulation and emulation of current and emerging JTAC and Forward Observer targeting/target acquisition devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Terminal Attack Control academic instruction, adhering to USSOCOM 350-5 standards and the JTAC Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
- Deliver academic and practical instruction across all facets of Fire Support, encompassing Terminal Attack Control, Naval Gunfire, Call for Fire, AC-130 operations, and Attack Aviation.
- Operate Fire Support/Terminal Attack Control simulators, providing expert instruction to USSOCOM JTACs, trainees, and for Close Air Support (CAS) familiarization.
- Plan, develop, schedule, and synchronize all elements of the JTAC Trainer, designing realistic and challenging simulator training scenarios that align with the unit’s Designed Operational Capabilities Statement.
- Attend simulator and operational conferences to remain current with the latest software and hardware applications.
- Research and integrate new operational tactics, techniques, and procedures into unit training programs.
- Maintain required qualification and currency as stipulated by the JTAC MOA.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other standard office automation tools.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the principles, concepts, practices, and standards governing JTAC training simulators.
- Work effectively at customer facilities, demonstrating adaptability to operate in both conventional and austere environments.
- Travel as required to support the needs of the operating command and adhere to local requirements.
- Conduct instruction, training, and education in field environments, including operations under varying seasonal and adverse weather conditions.
- Perform instruction, training, and education in field environments necessitating movement via watercraft, aircraft, and/or ground vehicles.
Qualifications
Required:
- Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
- Certification as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller Instructor or Evaluator (JTAC-I/E) while serving as a member of the United States Armed Forces.
- Demonstrated operational JTAC experience with Special Operations Forces (SOF).
- Experience in planning, coordinating, and employing lethal and non-lethal fires.
- Proficiency with JTAC simulators, simulation software, and training aids.
- Competence with military air-ground communication systems.
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Training and experience with the Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE).
- Training and experience with the Joint Terminal Control Training Rehearsal System (JTC TRS).
- Training and experience with the HAVIK Joint Fires Trainer.
- Training and experience with Joint Fires Battlespace Simulations.
Compensation and Benefits
The proposed salary range for this position is $61,600 - $129,300. This range is a national average, and the final salary will be determined by various factors including geographic location, contract labor categories, relevant experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.
