Avelo Airlines invites applications for the full-time position of Flight Attendant within its dedicated charter program supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This critical role requires highly motivated, energetic safety and service professionals committed to operational excellence. The Flight Attendant will perform essential domestic and international duties supporting DHS deportation efforts, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and service for all passengers and crewmembers.
Key Responsibilities and Operational Duties
The successful candidate is responsible for upholding Avelo Airlines' safety standards and delivering superior inflight service, adhering strictly to all regulatory requirements.
Safety, Security, and Compliance
- Ensure the safety, security, welfare, and comfort of all customers and fellow crewmembers throughout all phases of flight.
- Respond effectively and safely to a broad range of in-flight emergencies, executing established procedures proficiently.
- Contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of all assigned aircraft and flight schedules.
- Complete timely documentation of all incident and safety reporting requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and strictly adhere to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and comply with laws, regulations, and procedures in all operational locations.
- Comply with all DOT, FAA, and Avelo Airlines’ regulations concerning drug and alcohol standards for safety-sensitive transportation employees.
Inflight Service Standards and Professionalism
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues onboard, demonstrating creativity and resourcefulness in finding rapid, effective resolutions.
- Create a consistently caring and professional customer experience from boarding through deplaning.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and demeanor, strictly adhering to prescribed Inflight uniform and appearance guidelines.
- Be willing and able to serve all types of food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, as required.
Training and Crew Leadership
- Attend all mandatory training sessions and successfully maintain qualifications as determined by Inflight Leadership.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant Company materials, including the Inflight Service Manual, Flight Attendant Playbook, and OneCrew Way Handbook, ensuring the Flight Attendant tablet is current with all revisions and bulletins.
- Uphold the "One Crew" value by cooperating and working effectively with all operational crewmembers and Avelo leadership.
- Treat all customers and colleagues with kindness and respect.
- Perform all duties as outlined in the Company safety manuals and as assigned by the flight Captain or Avelo leadership.
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must thoroughly review the following requirements. Adherence to all mandated criteria is essential for consideration.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
- Possess a valid United States passport (or foreign passport with applicable VISAs) with a minimum of six months validity remaining prior to expiration.
- Must possess the unrestricted right to travel freely in and out of the United States, to and from all cities served by Avelo Airlines, including Canada.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- The Flight Attendant must be fluent in English (understand, speak, read, and write).
- Candidates must attend and successfully complete all required Avelo Flight Attendant training programs.
- Must maintain a working telephone number and file their address of residence with the company, ensuring its currency at all times.
- Must accept responsibility for all expenses related to relocating to an assigned base after successful completion of training.
Operational and Schedule Requirements
- This position requires working only reserve shifts.
- Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to report to their assigned base location within a two-hour timeframe upon notification, making proximity to the base highly recommended.
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule with variable hours of up to 16-hour duty days, which includes nighttime or overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and multiple consecutive days away from home.
- DHS charter service may consist of local day trips and extended overnights.
Physical Requirements
- Vision must be correctable to at least 20/40 (with glasses or contact lenses).
- Ability to physically lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level.
- Must be able to walk forward down the aircraft aisle without impacting the comfort of seated customers.
- Ability to be seated in a jumpseat with all restraints fastened without the need for a seatbelt extension.
- Ability to maintain balance while walking and standing during flight.
- Must be capable of standing, sitting, stooping, bending, reaching, and crouching for extended periods of time.
- Ability to push or pull aircraft doors/exits, or food/beverage carts, with a required force of up to 100 lbs.
- Must be capable of assisting customers needing physical assistance during an emergency evacuation.
Compensation and Benefits
Avelo Airlines provides competitive compensation and benefits for its Flight Attendants:
- Starting Hourly Rate: $28.00 per hour (first year).
- Minimum Guarantee: 75-hour minimum monthly guarantee.
- Lead Pay: A $2.00 override per hour when flying in the lead position.
- Per Diem: $2.25 per hour paid when on duty at the airport or actively flying.
- Premium pay and holiday pay are provided for Company-identified holidays, as applicable.
