Crew Scheduling Team Member

Overview

This position is part of the Crew Scheduling Team within the Integrated Operations Division. The role involves coordinating the daily operational requirements for Pilots, including managing Crew Schedule shift staffing, scheduling, rescheduling, and reassigning crew members, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels at each base.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinates the coverage of open sequences for each crew base in accordance with the provisions of the AA/APA contractual labor agreement(s) and FAR 117 Limitations.
  • Assists the Manager on Duty with daily operational requirements, ensuring that any open time resulting from operational disruptions (such as weather, irregular operations, charters, ferries, equipment substitutions, etc.) is allocated to a base that can cover the operation in the most expeditious and cost-efficient way possible.
  • Supervises, leads, and guides a team of Crew Schedulers.
  • Oversees ongoing and annual talent conversations/development, performance management, coaching, counseling, and recruiting efforts.
  • Coaches and counsels employees to correct and improve performance.
  • Motivates the team for continual improvement in process and internal customer experience.
  • Assists the Senior Manager with special assignments as necessary.
  • Attends crew system development meetings and provides direction to IT on behalf of the pilot crew scheduling department.
  • Participates in the pilot JCBA implementation and automation processes.
  • Leads extensive grievance and pay claim research.
  • Leads the coordination of the integration of pilot crew scheduling teams.
  • Participates in the development and revision of contractual materials and presentations.
  • Researches and provides coverage report updates.

Qualifications for Success

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Three years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Two years of Crew Scheduling experience.

  • Ability to understand the 24-hour clock and worldwide time zones for daily communication with crew members.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comprehend pilot labor agreements.
  • Ability to lead and guide a team of direct reports in their daily duties.
  • Ability to work all shifts, including holidays and weekends, in a 24/7/365 operation.
  • Ability to work overtime as required, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
  • Knowledge of AA/APA contractual labor agreements is preferred.
  • Ability to interact effectively with Flight, APA, and Senior Management, as needed.
  • Ability to coordinate and delegate work assignments.
  • Must comply with the company's Attendance policy.
