Position Summary

The Instructor Pilot (TH-1H) will serve a critical role in training the next generation of United States Air Force (USAF) vertical-lift aviators. These aviators are responsible for diverse and demanding missions, utilizing sophisticated aircraft such as the MH-139 Grey Wolf and the CV-22 Osprey. All USAF helicopter pilots commence their careers at the 23d Flying Training Squadron (FTS) at Fort Rucker, Alabama, where Amentum is an integrated partner. This position involves delivering comprehensive instruction in academics, simulations, and flight training for contact, instrument, and remote operations, specifically within the TH-1H Huey II helicopter platform. The program is renowned for its rigorous standards and an unprecedented safety record.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert flight instruction to USAF student pilots in the TH-1H Huey II helicopter.
• Conduct academic and simulator training sessions, ensuring adherence to USAF flight regulations and training syllabi.
• Mentor and evaluate student performance in contact, instrument, and remote operational flight profiles.
• Contribute to the maintenance of the program's exemplary safety record.

Required Qualifications

• Must have previously qualified as a U.S. Air Force helicopter Instructor Pilot. (Candidates with CV-22 experience who attended SUPT-H or UHT are eligible).
• Must have been current in U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) military aircraft within the preceding four (4) years, or within the preceding six (6) years if possessing eleven (11) years of DOD military operational flying duty.
• A minimum of 1,000 total hours of DOD military helicopter flight time is required.
• A minimum of 200 hours of DOD military helicopter instructor flight time is required.
• Demonstrated working knowledge and adherence to all USAF flight regulations.
• Possession of a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate is mandatory prior to commencing Pilot Instructor Training (PIT).
• Must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
• Ability to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of such authorization.

Successful candidates will be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check. Completion of all requisite training and a government acceptance checkride are also mandatory requirements for this role.
