Key Responsibilities

The Instructor Pilot will be responsible for:

• Teaching, coaching, and mentoring student pilots through intensive training designed to meticulously prepare them for their future roles as military aviators.
• Conducting comprehensive flight instruction in the UH-72 within a vast area encompassing over 40,000 square miles of the National Airspace System.
• Upholding and reinforcing a culture where safety remains paramount in every aspect of flight training, despite the inherent risks involved.
• Delivering highly structured curriculum content in both academic classroom settings and practical, hands-on flight environments.
• Instilling advanced aviation knowledge, essential skills, and critical decision-making abilities in student pilots.

Minimum Pilot Qualifications

Prospective Instructor Pilots must meet the following stringent qualifications:

• Possess an ICAO equivalent or FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate and an ICAO equivalent or FAA Flight Instructor Certificate. Both certificates must include Rotorcraft Category, Helicopter Class, and Instrument Helicopter Ratings, OR be a graduate of any DOD rotary wing instructor pilot course for rotary wing aircraft.
• Accumulate a minimum of 1500 total flight hours. Flight time credited includes pilot-in-command (PIC) or second-in-command (SIC) per FAR 61.51, or Pilot in Command (PIC) or Pilot (PI) per AR 95-1, in aircraft of any weight or category.
• Certify a minimum of 100 hours combining hooded instrument, flight simulator instrument, or actual weather pilot time.
• Demonstrate prior experience instructing students in instrument flight training.
• Log a minimum of 75 hours of Night Flying.
• Possess at least 500 hours of Instructor Time.
• For Basic Warfighter Skills Applicants: Must be certified Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified and possess a minimum of 200 hours of NVG time.
• Hold a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate prior to commencing training.
• Body weight must not exceed 250 pounds in flight duty uniform.
• Successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and be able to provide verifiable proof of such authorization.
